Sheryl Crow is a beautiful, free spirit
She looks so tiny in that chair!! Love this woman!! She is strong, independent, sexy, and so very talented!!
The former elementary music school teacher is on this week’s cover of Page Six Magazine.
The 46 year old nine time Grammy winner is currently dating John Cassimus, an Alabama restaurateur whom she met through her friend, country singer Sara Evans. She is mother to 14 month old Wyatt whom she adopted in April of 2007.
What she is willing to say about John:
“we’re just seeing each other. John is great.” She does admit that John has been to her Nashville house, and yes, he has met Wyatt.
Regarding her relationship with Lance Armstrong:
“I would rather live my life and suffer the pain of losing someone than to never have anybody,” she says. “I have had relationships with great, deep loves, and I have had some that were not functional and some that were more damaging in the end, but you have to accept people the way they are. It doesn’t mean it’s their fault.”
On her beautiful baby boy Wyatt:
“He is all boy,” “He is very game. He has done everything early. He started walking at 10 months and I think that is due to the fact that he’s a very curious kid.” She remembers the day he started walking. “I was over at my girlfriend’s house in Kansas City, and she’s got three teenage boys and I could tell he wanted to be with them, so it’s like, ‘I’ve got to start walking!’ ”
On her decision to adopt:
“There was a shift in my life when I got diagnosed, because it demanded I look at everything and redefine my life,” she says. “I always felt I would be a mom. I have strong maternal instincts.” Sheryl says she applied to an adoption agency while she was going through radiation and was immediately told there was a baby for her. “I actually had to say ‘No’ because I wasn’t done with radiation yet.”
The importance of friends:
“My closest friends are women I went to college with; with them, I am exactly who I was before I became successful.” But she has another group of girlfriends in Los Angeles, including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Laura Dern. “Laura’s really been a great mentor,” says Sheryl. “She is very in tune with raising her children in a healthy way.
Quality time with friends:
We make dinner and everybody sits around and laughs and catches up. It’s about staying home and sitting by the pool,” she says. “I don’t care about going out and having my picture taken.”
What she thinks of tabloids:
Of this public sharing, she says, “It’s a hazard of the job, I guess. When I got diagnosed and my relationship fell apart, it was an intrusion to have photographers trying to get a picture of what I looked like when I was at my lowest low. Knowing that people can’t wait to buy it.” It’s why Sheryl instated a “no tabloid” rule in her house. “I’m happy for my nanny to have all that stuff, but she’s keeping them at her place.”
Sheryl toured with John Mayer in 2006 and was asked if she had anything to do with him and her good friend Jennifer Aniston:
“I had nothing to do with it! But I love him and I love her. If they’re happy, great.”
Sheryl has been spending time lobbying for the organization Breast Cancer Awareness (breastcancerawareness.com), and testified on Capitol Hill this past May about trying to get a research bill passed that investigates environmental effects on the disease. Now, she’s just waiting for it to be voted on.
