The 43 year old actor has returned his book advance to Harper Collins as he has abandoned writing his memoir which was to have been a very candid look into the ups and downs of his career and drug use.

The actor’s spokeswoman declined to comment on why he would not be following through with the memoir.  The book was to have been released this year.

He is set to play the lead in Sherlock Holmes (in pre-production) which is to be released in 2010 and has filmed The Solist in which he plays Steve Lopez.  That film is currently in post-production.

Did you know:  that when he was 10, Robert Downey Jr. attended the Perry House School in Chelsea and studied classical ballet?

That would have been a great read.  Maybe one day he will decide to write it.  Would you read it?
