I think it’s commendable the 23 year old has come out defending women twice her age as getting the short end of the stick in Hollywood:

“Women kind of wilt as men sort of achieve as they get older, like wine or whatever. It’s like, ‘Oh, she’s past her prime and she can’t play a sex symbol.’ It’s just a preconceived notion about women in general and particularly in this industry. It’s a very, very vain industry,”

Believe it or not, the sexy actress doesn’t see herself as beautiful necessarily:

“My hair and make-up artists spend hours upon hours plastering things on me to make me look sexier,” she said of her film roles. “I think that it’s rare that you feel beautiful. I never look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘I look really beautiful,’ [but] I look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘Yeah, I look hot.’”

Faye Dunaway has also spoken about the ageism in Hollywood:

“I am furious that they think I’m too old to play the love interest of guys like Jack Nicholson and Clint Eastwood. Why should I play sisters and mothers while guys like Jack and Clint, who are older than me, have on-screen lovers half their age?”

I have to wonder what the studio executives making these decisions look like?  I doubt they are young, hot men.  They are probably the same age, or older than the women they are discriminating against.  Where do they get off thinking older women are less than desirable, yet they actually think men like Jack Nicholson and Clint Eastwood are? 

I think women of all ages should be bothered by this because we all get older and this affects all of us whether in the industry or not.  It’s a perception that needs to be corrected.
