Celine Dion received an honourary doctorate from Quebec’s Laval University.  The singer is due to give a free concert on Friday in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the city.  Paul McCartney gave a free concert there last month.

Although Celine never finished high school, she encourages students to attain higher education.  But also acknowledged “the school of life is also very important”.

Congrats to Celine Dion.

Jared Leto was in London yesterday attending the Kerrang Awards.  He and his bandmates from 30 Seconds to Mars were on hand to pick up a best single award.

TMZ  is reporting Alexis Miller, a hip-hop artist that goes by the name of Mary Jane, has filed a restraining order against Shaq “alleging he threatened to hurt her and harassed her with heavy-breathing over the phone.”  He also threatened to black-ball her in her industry by paying people $500 not to record with her.

TMZ reports that:   According to court docs Shaq wrote her one email that reads, “I dnt no who the fuk u think u dealin wit u will neva be heard from one phone call is all I gotta make no try me. Sho me.”

The docs also allege Shaq sent her “an unsolicited vulgar and offensive illustration of a man physically restraining a woman while forcing her to engage in sexual intercourse with him.”

Yeah, here’s the thing about emails:  THEY ARE EVIDENCE!!!!!

Didn’t he just get back together with his wife?  Yikes.  Awkward.

Shaq will be in court before a judge on September 4.

When I think of surgery in the neck or spine area, it gives me the willies because it’s such a critical part of the body.

Paula Abdul has suffered for the past 20 years and in an effort to relieve herself of the daily pain, she underwent surgery at Los Angeles’ Olympia Medical Center in early August where she stayed for five days.

The first accident was when she was cheerleading at 17, later she was in a car accident, followed by a minor plane crash that worsened the damage.  Now 46, the singer did not want to go through another season of American Idol in pain.  She once told a reporter:

“I have four titanium plates in my neck. I’ve had 14 surgeries over the years.”

The picture above was taken from the very recent Alma Awards, so she looks good which is great.  We wish her well.
