Russell Crowe is set to play Sherlock Holmes’ sidekick, Dr. Watson, a movie that will be directed by Madonna’s husband, Guy Ritchie. 

Although the deal is not yet signed, there is said to be mutual interest on both Russell Crowe and Guy Ritchie’s part.

Sherlock Holmes is to be played by Robert Downey Jr.  Guy Ritchie’s version of the fictional super-sleuth will have Holmes turn into a “bad-ass” martial arts expert.
