I doubt many people are surprised given the recent pictures of Paris Hilton and Stavros Niarchos (see my post here) that surfaced this week.

The pair split a few days ago after having dated for 9 months.  According to a source close to Paris:

“She is saddened by the breakup but they’re just too different and they wanted different things in life,” says a source close to Hilton. “He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break.”

But according to the source, those pictures had nothing to do with it and were harmless:

“In no way are they romantic, nor do they want to get back together,” the source says.

Gee.  Are you surprised?
