Britney Spears ‘For the Record’

Did you watch??  I have to say that I was pretty impressed by how grounded and together she is.  She’s grown up quite a bit.  I never subscribed to her being unintelligent like a lot of people.  I always felt she was going through a really bad time (who hasn’t right?), but I think this documentary probably cleared up a lot of misconceptions about her.

Here are some quotes from it in case you didn’t see it.

On wishing she had of gone home after he break-up with Kevin Federline:

“You would have thought that I would have gone home, like, I would have taken the kids and I would have gone to Louisiana.  “I think back now and I’m like, ‘Why didn’t I, in that fragile state of mind?’ I’m breastfeeding one kid and the other one’s with me and I have a nanny.  “Why didn’t I just up and go to Louisiana?”

On why she couldn’t be home without her babies and was always seen out and about during her most difficult time:

“My babies represented home… and every time I went home, it was like, ‘Oh God, I can’t be here, so when I was in my car and when I was driving, I was going somewhere.”

On her desire to be able to do the simple things in life with her kids:

“Most celebrities have, like, three or four people on them and they can actually get their stroller out and walk their kids to the supermarket.  “I’ve seen Jessica Alba at the supermarket, my little sister goes to the supermarket with her baby; I can’t go anywhere with my kids.”

On learning, the hard way, that people’s intentions were not pure:

“I’ve been through a lot this year, actually the last two or three years and my trust has really been battered. I’ve definitely grown up, big time. I’m very weary of a lot of things. Very protective of myself.  “You are guarded, you have to be that way, otherwise you get taken advantage of and get in situations like I did.  “I had certain people in my life who were just bad people and I was very guarded at first but then I went to a point where I ended up letting them in, because I was lonely… and I really paid the consequences for that.”

My favourite part was when she ended the film by saying:

“Now I try to avoid situations from the past that may threaten me… I go through life like a karate kid.”

The smile she gave after she said “I go through life like a karate kid” was just beautiful.  I really enjoyed watching the documentary although at times it seemed like we just saw a brief clip of it and then it would go into tons of commercials.  Then at other times we would see lots of footage.  All in all I enjoyed it.

Did you enjoy it?  Did your thoughts on Britney change after watching it?
