Over the Christmas holidays, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ross McCall split up a source close to the couple has told People:

“They broke up over the holidays and have ended their engagement,” says a source close to the couple. “They’re both really sad about this. Even their friends are surprised; they seemed really happy. Everyone just wants the best for both of them.”

Reps for Jennifer & Ross did not release any comments.  The couple became engaged in November 2007 after dating for two years.

Apparently back in September (2008) Jennifer was snapped sobbing as McCall packed luggage into the back of a vehicle outside her home.
