I Saw Britney, Bitch

 039

I meant to write this post much earlier than now, but better late then never, right?

So last night (Wednesday) I saw Britney Spears at the Air Canada Centre and to say it was incredible still does not describe the experience.

From the stage, to the circus performers, dancers, effects, props costumes and choreography it was more than I could have hoped for.  My husband asked me how would I rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being mind-blowing and I said 20.  Maybe a slight exaggeration, but given that I’m such a staunch supporter of her having rid herself of dead weight and ‘coming back’, it was beyond my expectations.

Before she was lowered to the stage, the middle part of the stage had a round vertical curtain if you will, that also served as a ‘screen’ to watch video footage that was used throughout the show during costume and set changes.

In its ‘Circus’ theme it began with Perez Hilton dressed as a ‘Queen’ (I’ve included a picture of it) and speaking in a somewhat evil and sinister manner.  What exactly he was saying I couldn’t tell you because I was just kind of shocked it was him.  There were other things going on within this video, but you have to remember this was the beginning and it was so exciting it was somewhat surreal.

So back to the Perez skit.  It is toward the end of this video and claims he is the Queen of all Media (I think that’s what he was saying) and then the camera pans to two curtains where  they open to a standing Britney looking very sexy but you can’t see her face just yet, as the light is behind her and there is smoke so it’s just a silhouette type of view.  She starts walking toward what is meant to be Perez Hilton (although I think the scenes were shot separately) and she raises a cross bow, fires and shoots him turns around and walks away!!  Mission accomplished.  Omg it was so shockingly funny.  So unlikely.  And that’s how the show began.

From the moment she was lowered to the stage it seemed like the entire population of the  Air Canada Centre were on their feet and remained so for the entire concert!  Note to self:  do not wear heels to concerts ever again!!  I practically crawled to my car.  For the entire concert everyone was dancing and singing it was such a great party!

I didn’t have the best camera and from our seats zoomed in as much I could, but the pics are not the greatest.  I took a lot of the Pussycat Dolls and started to take pics of  Britney and then realized I wanted to enjoy the freakin show and didn’t think the pics were that great anyways so why bother.

And yeah, she lip syncs, but so what?  I love Britney but she herself admits she’s not the strongest singer.  She’s an entertainer and man did that girl ever entertain last night.  I am so grateful I got to see this performance of hers.

If you have a chance to go and see her, do yourself a favour and go.

The Stars Pay Tribute To Natasha Richardson

natasha_richardson_33jpg_wenn5247464

The tributes are starting to pour in for Natasha Richardson, and it is no surprise that she was very much loved and very well-respected.  It really still is very surreal and tragic that this lady is no longer with us.  This world has truly lost a great woman.

**

Natasha was a great actress, a fantastic mother, a loving wife and a whirlwind of energy, with an infectious love of life expressed firstly by her wonderful deep laugh. Anyone who knew her will be in mourning today. I hope that Liam and her sons are helped in their pain by the great love and sympathy that is coming to them from people all over the world.”

–Helen Mirren

***

“Tash was the warm sun in the center of a large constellation of family, friends, all of those lucky enough to know her – she is irreplaceable in our lives; she gave us so much, so generously – her legacy is the love that connects us all.”

–Meryl Streep

***

“For everyone who knew and loved her, Natasha’s death is a terrible, devastating loss. She was a star. A great actress, a beautiful woman, a fiercely loyal friend, a brilliant and generous companion. She was an adoring and loving wife and mother. She was unique. My thoughts and prayers go out to Liam and her beautiful sons, Micheal and Danny and to all her family. I cannot imagine a world without her wit, her love, her mischief, her great, great talent and her gift for living. I loved her very much. She was a supreme friend. I shall miss her deeply.”

–Ralph Fiennes

***

“Tasha is irreplaceable. I cannot think of anyone kinder, more generous, thoughtful, smarter or more fun. She is godmother of two of my children. The Neesons and Vanessa (Redgrave, Richardson’s mother) have always made me feel a part of their wonderful family. My thoughts and prayers are with them.”

–Mia Farrow

***

“She was one of a kind, a magnificent actress. … She was also an amazing mother, a loyal friend and the greatest and most generous host you could ever hope to meet.”

–Sam Mendes, who directed the Broadway musical “Cabaret” for which Richardson won a Tony Award in 1998.

***

“Natasha was brilliant, beautiful, funny, talented beyond measure, as emotionally raw as she was razor sharp. … May Liam, her beautiful boys and her loving family hold her close as they move through this tragic moment.”

–Jodie Foster, who co-starred with Richardson and Liam Neeson in the 1994 drama “Nell.”

***

“She was a wonderful woman and actress and treated me like I was her own. … My heart goes out to her family. This is a tragic loss.”

–Lindsay Lohan, who co-starred with Richardson in a remake of “The Parent Trap” in 1998.

***

“As a stage actress she was really coming into her own, she was becoming a major star and taken extremely seriously on the stage and also her film work … was excellent. She had a sort of luminous presence on the stage, but offstage she was a very shy, very easygoing, almost self-deprecating character who didn’t like being made a fuss of.”

–Tim Walker, theater critic for Britain’s Sunday Telegraph newspaper.

***

“She was quite careful about what she did. But what she did, she went into with a full heart and a passion. She was very discerning, very serious about the film roles she chose. It’s absolutely tragic that somebody with so much to offer, and of course from this great acting dynasty, should be taken at this time of her life, and tragic of course for her family.”

–British theater critic Michael Coveney

***

“I just want to say how deeply saddened I am, we all are, by the sudden passing of actress Natasha Richardson yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Liam Neeson, their two sons, the rest of their family and friends. Yet another reminder of how fleeting life can be and how precious. We need to value every moment.”

–Oprah Winfrey, on her talk show.

***

“She was a lady. I can’t tell you enough what a good person she was, and fun and vivacious and the most full of life.”

–Kelly Ripa, co-host with Regis Philbin on the syndicated talk show “Live With Regis and Kelly.”

 ***

“I first met her on the set of Julia. She was a little girl but already beautiful and graceful. It didn’t surprise me that she became such a talented actor.”   Fonda had wanted to visit the New York hospital where Richardson was being treated, but her show schedule prevented her from providing “any comfort I could bring,” she says, adding that “as the curtain went up [Wednesday] I heard the tragic news. It is hard to even imagine what it must be like for her family. My heart is heavy.”

–Jane Fonda

***

She was a great friend, a wonderful wife and an excellent mother,”  “She knew how to make everyone feel comfortable and at home. This is such a loss to us all.”

–Julianne Margulies to People

***

Remembering Natasha’s ”incredibly luminous quality that you seldom see, and a great sense of humor. I thought she was a really great actress and seemed to simply shine in both film and theater.”   Of the 45-year-old Richardson’s bloodlines – Vanessa Redgrave, of the theatrical Redgraves, is her mother, while her late father was Oscar-winning Tom Jones director Tony Richardson – Dench, 74, noted, “It’s always difficult if you have parents in theater, it puts a very strange pressure on the children. I have no doubt [great work was to come]. It’s been so shocking, really shocking – I hope everyone leaves the family alone to pick up the pieces.”

–Judi Dench, who costarred with Richardson in a 1987 TV production of Ibsen’s Ghost
