Dita Von Teese made an appearance at Seattle’s Triple Door and performed her burlesque act.  Her costumes look incredible and HEAVY.  She strikes me as someone who carries herself with much grace and poise, and to do that with those heavy costumes is quite the accomplishment. 

I’m trying very hard not to hate her for her incredibly tiny waist.

The gorgeous star of Watchmen, Malin Ackerman graces the April 2009 issue of Ocean Drive Magazine and in it discussed the movie, her nude sex scene and her husband.

She talks about the frenzy leading up to the box office opening of Watchmen:

“My body basically told me to ‘F’ off,” “It’s been so crazy but so exciting,” she says. “It’s worth the lack of sleep.”

Despite being outnumbered by men, she maintains it wasn’t bothersome:

“I never felt particular pressure being the only woman,” she recalls. “There was always pressure from myself—since this is the biggest thing I’ve ever done—but the boys were so respectful and treated me amazingly well. We had something special because we were all in Vancouver, where none of us lived, so we hung out and had dinner with other cast members, because there was nothing else to do. We really got along well, and that was the feeling on set, too.”

She didn’t mind the form fitting costume either:

“I’m happy to be linked to that beautiful vision,” she says. “I’m looking forward to being 80 years old and saying, ‘Look what Grandma used to look like!’ Not everyone gets to have an action figure.”

She also felt her nude sex scene with Patrick Wilson was integral:

“Growing up with a Swedish family, there’s a very different attitude as far as nudity goes. Boobs are not something new. Nudity is on TV and presented in a natural way, not as a sexual thing,” she explains. “I can’t stand watching a movie where people are making love and there’s a sheet between them. It’s about realism. This movie absolutely required it. They needed that explosive moment to see how animalistic they become. There’s no way they were going to do it with her latex suit on.”

Insert joke here.   The newly single Marg Helgenberger is able to handle *cough* the bloody, gruesome scenes on CSI because she used to work at a meat plant:

 ”It really sucked. I did things like cut abscesses from chucks of beef and pulled gristle and fat off the assembly line… I suppose it would happen about three or four times a shift. You would take a stab at it and sometimes it would splurt.”

Yum.   I have to imagine that if anyone who eats meat (myself included) visited one of these plants, they would probably cease to eat meat.
