If anyone is surpised by Mel Gibson’s wife filing for divorce, it’s probably because she didn’t do it sooner!   The couple released the following statement:

“Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so.”

The couple, both 53, have 7 children.  Robyn is seeking joint physical and legal custody of their youngest, Thomas, 9 as well as spousal support, attorney’s fees and asking the court to deny any spousal support Mel would seek (as if).   She has sited the typical ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the divorce petition.
