The Fast and the Furious are at the top of the box office this opening weekend and also have made the most of any movie in 2009 thus far:  $72.5 Million in Canada and the United States.  Second to them, Monsters vs. Aliens which brought in $59.3 Million in it’s opening weekend.   Monsters vs. Aliens came in second place this weekend with $33.5 Million and in third place was ‘The Haunting in Conneticut’ taking in $9.6 Million this weekend.

All in all, The Fast and the Furious had ticket sales (worldwide) of $102.6 this weekend.  Not bad for the fourth instalment of the series and considering the terrible reviews it has received.

I love Zooey and loved her in Yes Man with Jim Carrey.  She seems so real and down-to-earth, and Craig Ferguson cracks me up.  I think he would be a lot of fun to be around.   He’s the type of guy I don’t think I could have a straight face being around him.  I find him hot. 

Geri Halliwell, who got engaged in December of 2008 to Fabrizio Politi, ended their engagement in March 2009 for what Politi describes as “very bad situation” occuring between the two.  I’m thinking said ‘very bad situation’ was her pulling her head out of her ass.   I’m just saying…

Fabrizio, being a class act *cough* thinks it’s just as well he and Geri didn’t marry because Victoria Beckham is more his speed:

“To be honest, looks and dress-wise she was normally more my cup of tea (type) than Geri as she dresses like me – a little more refined and elegant.”

I’m sure Geri didn’t put a gun to his head to get him to propose, so I can’t help but think it’s sour grapes for a grown man to be saying this after the relationship ends.  He sounds a bit shallow and douchebag-like.  What do you think?

This is such sad news.  Farrah Fawcett has been in the hospital since Thursday having suffered another setback in her battle with cancer.  She is said to be unconscious but in stable condition.  The former Charlie’s Angel was first diagnosed with cancer in 2006 but was in remission until May 2007 when it returned.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family.

Victoria Beckham is adding voice over to her resume.  The fashion designer, spice girl and lucky wife of David Beckham has recorded a voice over for the animated cartoon Spongebob Squarepants.  Although not interested in acting a source told the Daily Mirror:

“She isn’t interested in becoming an actress but voice-over work is something that appealed. Scriptwriters created the role of a posh British princess especially for her and were blown away by what a natural she was. Network bosses have been in touch ever since, offering more work.”

Cindy Crawford is expanding into housewares by teaming up with J.C. Penney to launch a line of affordably priced housewares such as bedding, wall decor and rugs ranging from $20 to $170.

 “I decided it would be fun to make lots of different hair dyes, you know how people get up in arms when I change the colour of my hair, and I just think, ‘Don’t be ridiculous people, you have to have fun with the colours of life.’ I’m working with a punk rock hair company called Manic Panic, and we’re working with a different charity for different colours – red, pink, purple, blue, orange – it’s really fun.”

In response to Madonna being denied adopting Mercy James, Guy Ritchie released this statement:

“Madonna is a fantastic and loving mother who cares deeply about her own children, and children who may need additional help and support,”

“I fully supported Madonna in her decision to apply for this adoption, and I am saddened that her application has been rejected. She is motivated only by being a caring parent who seeks to share some of the advantages and opportunities that her life has given her,”

“This time it did not work out, but there will be other opportunities and I wish her well in them,” Ritchie concluded. “She is a great mum.”

Now that’s classy, isn’t it?  Despite any differences they may have he could at least recognize and commend her for her mothering skills.  That’s kind of hot.
