Star Trek is released on Blu-Ray/DVD today and all of the movie’s main people attended yesterday’s release party in Los Angeles:  Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, J.J. Abrams, John Cho, Christopher Lloyd and of course the one and only Leonard Nimoy.

Today’s release includes bonus footage that was cut from the movie.  According to J.J. Abrams:  ”From the very beginning, we talked about wanting to do a Kirk and Spock story.”  Will you be buying today’s release?

Sex and The City’s Kim Cattrall, is done with the whole ‘cougar’ thing and tells Grazia Magazine:

Cougar is passe,” I think we’re on to something else now. It’s not about kitten or cougar – we’re moving beyond those stereotypes. It’s about so much more than just being a woman on the prowl - there is a lot more going on than that. ”We’ve done the work. Let’s enjoy the party now. Let’s not limit ourselves to labels. Cougar makes it all feel one-dimensional. It’s not.”

She’s glad to have played such a strong character as Samantha:

“Samantha dealt with sexuality in a way that didn’t just have a negative connotation but was positive in the sense of you picking your man, becoming the aggressor and not being judged for it. It’s not sl**ty, it’s healthy.  ”That is why I feel that cougar is way over now. It’s about a fully realised woman who works and plays and is successful and does all those things on her own terms. That is much more rounded than a cougar could ever be.”

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I’m always amazed at people, particularly women, who are threatened by a woman who is comfortable with her own sexuality.

Yesterday Nicole Richie took the stand against the two photographers, Eduardo Arrivabene and Ivon Emilio Melo Miguel, who slammed into her vehicle on October 5 as they were trying to get her picture:

“For months they have been following me prior to the accident and they continued to pursue me even after the accident. I havebeen diagnosed with something now and I don’t feel good. “I was on foot, I got in my car to drive east to go to a business meeting. They were cutting each other off, to lobby for a better position. They were trying to get in front of me or beside me, I was following my mom. I crossed on yellow. They ran the red light in order to follow me. Then I stopped, then out of nowhere, a car slammed right into me. I was hysterically crying. I was lucky my mom was there. About 10 minutes later the pain kicked in and I went to the hospital.”

She understands and accepts that they want to take pictures of her given that she is a celebrity but says there is a difference between “long lens shots and stalking”.

Her partner and father of her two kids Joel Madden also took the stand and admitted he is constantly worried about her and the kids:

“She also told me when the accident happened, that they were filming her right after the accident. From the accident, from then to now, she is always terrified.”

The photographers were ordered to stay away from Nicole and her two kids for a period of 3 years and can not be within 50 yards of them unless it is at a celebrity event.

I’m all for getting pictures of celebrities (clearly with this kind of site) but to endanger the life of someone and children is just unacceptable and unnecessary on all levels.  Sometimes I think pappers act like animals instead of humans.

After having a conversation with 50 Cent, 66 year old Robert De Niro is wondering if a rapping duet with 50 Cent should be his next thing.  He tells ExtraTV:

“We had some good conversations, and he’s a smart guy,” He was very smart about what he was telling me. I might try rapping. You never know.”

When asked who he would love to work with:

“Angelina Jolie. She’s one of the actors I’d really love to work with. But who would be at the top of my list depends on the project. There are so many wonderful actresses. Helen Mirren, for example.”

Robert De Niro and Angelina Jolie costarred in the 2006 film The Good Shepherd.  I could totally see De Niro doing a rap song!

My buddy got a film into the film festival in Las Vegas, so I went with him and it turned out it was the same weekend as the Gerard Butler convention,” I had the worst weekend of my life. I thought that if they know I’ve been here and I haven’t turned up, they’ll be furious, but there’s no way I can turn up. So literally I hid in the toilet for two days, my stomach was churning the whole time. “I ended up going,” I ran in and said, ‘Hey, it’s me, thank you, thank you,’ and then ran out. It was just weird! Turning up and going, ‘Yes, I’m Gerard Butler and you’re here for my convention’.”
