One Republic has just released ‘Secrets‘, the second song off of their album Waking Up.  The video was directed by Chris Sims (Jimmy Eat World, Tamar Kaprelian) who also directed ‘Mercy‘.

You can catch One Republic on May 28th as part of The Today Show Summer Concert Series.  Then on May 29th, they open for Bon Jovi at New Meadowlands Stadium.

Michigan’s Rima Fakih has made Miss USA history by being the first Arab-American to win the title.  The Lebanese immigrant said she knew by looking at Donald Trump that she had won:

“That’s the same look that he gives them when he says, ‘You’re hired,’”

According to the Los Angeles Times:

Fakih was born into a powerful Shiite family in a village in southern Lebanon that was heavily bombed during the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war. But she and her sister said the family celebrates both Muslim and Christian faiths and prefer to be referred to as Lebanese, Arabs or Arab-Americans.

She emigrated to the USA as a baby and was raised in New York where she attended a Catholic school.  In 2003 she moved to Michigan.

Her sister Rana Faqih says of the win:

We’re very proud as Lebanese Americans and as Lebanese that Rima reached this point despite all the pressures and stereotyping about Arabs and Lebanese. She made it. She fought and reached her goal,”

Update:  My bad.  Gossip Cop has reported that Rima Fakih is NOT the first Arab-American to win the Miss USA title as Julie Hayek back in 1983 was the first one. My sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this but I can barely form sentences on the best of days.  :)

She may have a court date in Los Angeles on Thursday, but that didn’t stop Lindsay Lohan from flying into Cannes to be part of the Cannes Film Festival festivities.

She doesn’t look happy considering she’s in Cannes.  Apparently she arrived yesterday to promote the Linda Lovelace biopic.

Something tells me it’s only a matter of hours before we hear what daddykins has to say about her trip to Cannes.

In addition to Adam Lambert and Justin Bieber, Usher, Ke$ha, Ludacris, David Guetta and Kelly Rowland also performed at KIIS FM’s Wango Tango concert yesterday.

Nashville native Ke$ha is helping to raise money for the flood victims of her hometown by holding a fundraiser at  the Limelight venue and told MTV backstage:

“Nashville is really sad, sad story but I also know that that city has so much soul that we will rebuild.”

“I am from there, and I have to say that it really helped shape me as an artist because it’s so conducive to real musicianship and playing,” “And it’s so nurturing for just learning how to play, like in school I had rock band and guitar class. So I owe a lot to the city, and it has so much soul.”

“So, I know we will rebuild, and I’m helping to so do by throwing a huge benefit show on the 16th of June,” “One hundred percent of the proceeds are going to go to families and animals affected. I want to continue to do anything I can think of I can possibly can do. Anything anyone can tell me to do, tell me, ’cause I want to help Nashville. It’s not just for bulls— PR. I actually love the city. I love the place. It’s home to me. I moved back, so I am 100 percent committed to helping it rebuild.”

I’m not sure why I’m doing a Justin Bieber post other than it’s a very slow news day I have finally lost my marbles. Justin was part of this weekend’s KIIS FM’s Wango Tango concert in Los Angeles that also featured:  Akon, Usher, Ke$ha, and Adam Lambert (those posts coming up).

I wonder if Kim Kardashian was in attendance to watch her boyfriend Justin
