Andrew Garfield has been confirmed to be the next Peter Parker in the Spiderman franchise which is expected to hit theatres in 3D on July 3, 2012.

The movie starts filming in early December and Andrew has already begun his preparation for the much anticipated new installment. The search for Tobey Maguire's replacement was exhaustive but the wait was worth it according to director Marc Webb:

“Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”

This young actor's career (he will be 27 on August 20) is in its infancy (5 years) but he is becoming one of the most well-respected and sought-after young actors. His work-to-date includes a role in the upcoming film The Social Network. He was in Spike Jonze's I’m Here, he plays the lead male opposite Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in Never Let Me Go, as well as being part of the cast in The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus 

This role is going to catapult him into mainstream.  I really hope the screaming girls at the premieres and anywhere else he shows up don't freak the poor guy out. His life is never going to be the same.

When Mel Gibson was arrested in 2006 for DUI and it became public knowledge that he was anti-Semitic (although he vehemently denied this to Diane Sawyer when she asked him) and referred to a female police officer as ‘Sugar T*ts‘ I instantly disliked him. And that’s an understatement.

They say when you are drunk the real you comes out. Sure people are uninhibited and likely to do and say things they wouldn’t otherwise do in every day life, but you can’t be a ranting raving, lunatic of a racist when you are drunk and claim innocence and that you are not a racist when you are sober.

And sometimes where there is smoke, there is fire.  Why discriminate for one religious/ethnic/gender group? Mel likes to spread his hatred to various groups as we’ve all come to find out in the last 48 hours when it was revealed by both TMZ and Radar Online that his baby momma Oksana Grigorieva secretly taped the bastard during one of his tirades (during their custody battle):

You’re an embarrassment to me. You look like a f–king pig in heat and if you get raped by a pack of n—ers it will be your fault,”

And the ignorance didn’t stop there.  He was also heard saying (at various points in the tape):

“whore” and a “c–t,”

“How dare you act like such a bitch when I have been so f–king nice,”

“I am going to come and burn the f–king house down…but you will blow me first,”

According to Radar Online‘s source:

“It’s demonic and insane stuff — and there’s 30 minutes of it,” the source said.

“This is the reason why he is trying so hard to spin the story into an issue of custody, because in this tape, he sounds like the devil.”

And being the complete idiot that Mel Gibson clearly is, he sent some rather nasty emails to Oksana that she has kept neatly tucked away for a rainy day. But that’s arrogance at its finest isn’t it? Oksana wasn’t kidding when she said the truth would come out, was she?

What I love about all this is originally when Oksana claimed to have had her teeth knocked out by Mel, his lawyers started with the campaign to discredit Oksana and her tales. When the tapes surfaced they claimed it wasn’t Mel.  Yet they went to court the other day to discuss with the judge the leaking of said tapes. And now they have no comment. Looks good on you!

Hollywood had forgiven Mel for his anti-Semitic rant.  They have forgiven Roman Polanski for raping a minor and fleeing like a coward.  But will they forgive Mel for this latest outburst of his? What do you think?

SNL funny ladies Amy Poehler and Rachel Dratch pose on the red carpet for the premiere of The Kids Are All Right in New York. The movie also stars Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Mark Ruffalo and Mia Wasikowska.  They were all at the premiere (with the exception of Annette) in addition to Ellen Barkin, Patricia Clarkson and Edward Norton.

The comedy opens in theatres July 9 and centres on a lesbian couple played by Julianne Moore and Annette Bening whose children seek out their sperm donor.  Sometimes some things are better left unknown:

Real life lovas Dev Patel and Freida Pinto strike a post on the red carpet of last night’s premiere of The Last Airbender which took place in New York. The show’s writer and director M. Night Shyamalan was also there along with Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz.

The trailers look cool to me but the movie is not getting good reviews at all. However we can’t always go by that, can we? The plot of the movie as described by imdb:

The story follows the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.

Matt Goldberg at Collider.com really hate this moving stating:

I hate everything about M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender.  I hate that it’s racist.  I hate that it takes a great, easy-to-adapt show and completely disrespects the material.  I hate the performances.  I hate the special effects.  I hate the borderline non-existent 3D that serves only to jack up ticket prices.  I hate the lack of imagination.  I hate the embarrassingly bad script that would be laughed out of a Screenwriting 101 class. I hate the consequences if this movie is a success at the box office.  I hate the consequences if it fails at the box office.  I hate that this movie exists.  And “hate” isn’t a strong enough word.

Wow. Do you think Matt hates the movie? Will you be going to see it?

Fox News is reporting that Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren‘s divorce settlement has been agreed to and it’s a matter of signing off at this point which is expected to be done in the next week or so.

Elin is making celebrity divorce history by receiving a staggering $750 Million payout! In addition to that she gets sole physical custody of the kids but has to remain silent for the rest of her life which means no tell-all books, interviews, etc.  Even if he dies! She can never speak about it.

In addition to Tiger losing almost $1 Billion, he is not allowed to have any of his girlfriends around the children.  The only exception would be if he married one of them.  According to a friend of Elin’s:

“Elin is desperate to protect the children from the womanizing side of their father “Tiger’s main fear is her telling her story after he’s rebuilt his reputation, sending him back to the gutter.”

Elin gets sole physical custody but they share legal custody which means she can not move to Sweden permanently. The friend goes on to say:

“Elin admits that despite everything, Tiger loves his kids and has been a decent dad. ”She is confident he will not pursue seeing the children that much, due to his work and lifestyle.”

If there is one thing we know, Tiger is the most important person in Tiger’s life. I feel sorry for the kids because when they get older and can understand things better it’s going to be brutal for them.

Update: According to TMZ the settlement is much less than the $750 reported earlier by Fox News but it is still more than her original prenup.
