Besides Prince William giving Kate Middleton his mother’s ring for their engagement, the biggest hype has been about her dress. Of course! It’s always about the dress.
It looks like there is a favourite designer and it’s Bruce Oldfield. Why is it rumoured to be him? Because of bets. That’s right, bets. According to the Daily Mail:
Paddy Power has received so many wagers on Bruce Oldfield to design the Royal wedding dress, it has suspended betting
I have no idea what the hell Paddy Power means or even how to bet on who the freaking designer is of a wedding gown. My knowledge of gambling consists of asking for lottery tickets at the local variety store and staring mindlessly and aimlessly into a slot machine while I watch my money spin away before my very eyes.

The surge in betting could be the result of a leak and the bookmaker told Vogue.com:
‘We suspended betting on November 26,’ he said. ‘We were receiving one-way traffic for Bruce Oldfield and there is no point in taking bets when all the interest is in one person.
‘He started as 4/1 joint favourite, but since then his odds have been slashed to 1/3. That would mean there is a 75 per cent chance of him being the wedding dress designer.‘
His designs were a favourite with Princess Diana and apparently his couture gowns start at £8,000. The bookmaker thinks it could be an ‘educated’ guess but that most likely it is the result of a leak. Who knows, right? We will have to wait until April 29th, 2011 to see. Will you be watching?
