‘X Factor’ Is Already Breaking Records

Simon Cowell‘s debut of X Factor in the U.S. hasn’t even aired a single episode, and it’s already breaking records.  Yesterday was the first day of auditions and they kicked off in Los Angeles.

It just happened to be a bigger turnout than any other talent show audition ever to be held down there!

X Factor’ Auditions Begin Today!

The freeway was totally gridlocked and people were sleeping overnight on the street in hopes of getting a chance to impress.   By 9 AM, more than 18,000 people had lined up for the first rounds of auditions.

“The auditionees started from ages 12 all the way to people into their eighties or nineties,” an eyewitness tells Life & Style. The giant parking lot at the LA sports arena was packed full of people in their bid for the 5 million dollar prize!

It is a huge prize.  This is going to be huge.  Like American Idol huge.  Simon Cowell is gold.

Reese Witherspoon Got Married

reese witherspoon got married

Reese Witherspoon’s not-so-secret, but super-private wedding took place yesterday on her beautiful ranch in Ojai, California to her handsome fiance Jim Toth her reps have confirmed.

The actress got married with her kids in attendance (by former husband Ryan Phillipe) Ava, 11 and Deacon 7, as well as some Hollywood types including Sean Penn with new (alleged) girlfriend Scarlett Johansson, newly single Renee Zellweger, Tobey Maguire and his wife, Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan, and mom-to-be Alyssa Milano and husband David Bugliari. Both David and Reese’s husband Jim are agents at the CAA firm although Jim is not Reese’s agent.

Total guest list was about 120 of the bride and groom’s family and friends. According to US Weekly she wore a ‘custom-designed Monique Lhuillier gown’. I bet she looked beautiful. Given the privacy of it all, I wonder if we will ever see photos of her in her dress?

The 35 year old Oscar winning actress was married to Ryan Phillippe from June, 1999 to June 2008. She then went on to have a long-term relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal from January 2007 to November 2009. She and Jim have been together for a little over a year and word is they hit it off immediately and the match is one made in heaven.

Congratulations to the happy couple.

Mila Kunis & James Franco Confirmed For ‘Wizard Of Oz’ Prequel

The deal is done. Mila Kunis and James Franco are set to be in the Wizard of Oz prequel where Mila will play the youngest of the three witches ‘Theodora’ in the new version of the 1939 hit entitled “Oz, the Great and Powerful”.

The Mila Kunis – Justin Timberlake Scandal

Did you watch the original with Judy Garland? Loved that movie! Especially because of the little dog Toto. What can I say? I love me some canines.

Back to the current version. Walt Disney Pictures have confirmed that both are officially on the project and James Franco will play the lead part. Yes, that’s right, the Wizard. Originally Robert Downey Jr. was to play that part but he left the project a few months ago Coming Soon is reporting. No word on why he left.

These are two very busy stars with Mila about to star in Ted with Mark Wahlberg. James Franco is going to have to sleep when he’s dead. This is one very busy guy. He’s teaching a ten-week class at Columbia College, he’s returning to General Hospital, he will be making his directorial debut in ‘As I Lay Dying‘ and now this film. But one thing we can probably bet on: he won’t be hosting the Oscars next year. Burn! Ha!

What do you think? Perfect casting or not so much?

Madonna and Her Charity Bow Out

Madonna‘s charity/school,  Raising Malawi has fallen apart.  What started out as a great idea and a huge hope for so many, is now as good a no more.

“A thoughtful decision has been made to discontinue plans for the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls, as it was originally conceived,” the organization’s cofounder Michael Berg, who founded it with Madonna in 2006, said in a statement.

So how did it all fall apart?  In the fall, executive director Phillippe van de Bossche was fired after he was accused of misappropriating funds.  He essentially ruined it for everyone by taking gross advantage of Madonna.

Now any funds left will be used elsewhere to help the devastated country.

“There’s a real education crisis in Malawi,” Madonna said in a statement on Thursday. “Sixty-seven percent of girls don’t go to secondary school, and this is simply unacceptable. Our team is going to work hard to address this in every way we can.  While I’m proud of these accomplishments, I’m frustrated that our education work has not moved forward in a faster way.”

I just hope that there is some good that can come out of this.  It’s certainly not the children’s fault, yet they are the ones who lose and suffer in the end.  Breaks my heart.
