Chris Brown Birthday, Miami Beach

Chris Brown just celebrated his 22nd birthday this weekend at Atmosphere in Miami Beach, Florida.  His buddy Lil Wayne and lots of other friends gathered for the big occasion.  But mostly, I am just staring at that cake!  OMG, seriously… that is an intense lump of flour and sugar.

Julia Roberts has officially signed on for a new good cause as the first Global Ambassador for The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves.  If you aren’t familiar with this group, it is a public-private initiative to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women, and combat climate change by creating a thriving global market for clean and efficient household cooking solutions.

Julia says,

“Nearly 2 million people around the world – mostly women and children – die each year from an activity that many of us take for granted: cooking for our families.  I am proud to stand with Secretary [Hilary] Clinton to work to reduce the senseless and preventable deaths from unsafe cooking conditions in developing countries and I look forward to contributing to the important work of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves.”

I will admit, I have never heard of such a thing.  Who knew that cooking could kill you.  What a noble cause.  Watch this video:

Jacob Lusk got the boot from American Idol and he’s still explaining why.  Last time I checked, the reason you get the boot on Idol is because the voters didn’t vote for you.  Kind of simple, right?  Well, not for Lusk. He is pointing fingers and they aren’t at the voters…..

Here’s what he had to tell the reporters about his big exit:

Having been in the bottom three before, did you think your time was up?
I had expected it not because of my bottom three finishes but because of the judges’ feedback and my performances this past week. I feel that I was the only one who wasn’t in his element this week. Everyone else was in their element and I did songs that weren’t in my genre that weren’t really my thing. … This wasn’t the time to do that, and I feel that’s why I was voted off, not because I was horrible or they didn’t like me or they liked somebody else better. Those four people that are there were amazing.

Was the pressure of the competition getting to you?
I wouldn’t say the pressure was getting to me. I will say I was getting a little tired probably. I was really just trying to do different things that [producer Jimmy Iovine] thought I would like. But at the end of the day, I really said, ‘I’m going to go out there and give it my all and I am not going to hold anything back.’

You had differences with Iovine and he had some criticism for you. Did that affect you?
I wouldn’t call it soul destroying, but it definitely hurts a lot to have someone who is supposed to be mentoring me, and it feels like every time you turn around, [he] is kind of tearing you down. But what you have to remember is that you’re actually not doing it for him, but you are doing it for the people out there in America and they are the people who are voting. It definitely hurts and it’s definitely hard to have someone beat you over the head with a baseball bat and then say, ‘Now go ahead and sing for your life.’

To that end, what will your first album sound like?
You are going to hear some traditional R&B, which I feel is missing from the scene. There aren’t any Luther Vandrosses or Teddy Pendergrasses or Marvin Gaye singers out right now. That’s what I desire to bring to people, and that’s what I bring naturally. I don’t have to try to do that, so that’s what you’re going to hear. You’re going to hear “Your House Is Not a Home” and those love ballads. You’re going to hear that and definitely some inspirational stuff. I will encourage people to keep living and keep fighting.

The judges said you hit the highest note ever on Idol. Can you go higher?
I have sung higher! I have broken a glass but not with my singing, because I’m kind of clumsy. But I have definitely sung a lot higher than that.

Yeah, I’m not gonna lie.  I was more than happy that he got the heave ho….. he should have left a long time ago.  So let him go back to his spa job and leave the singing to the pros.

Jersey Shore Cast

I love me some TMZ, but when you see that breaking news is Jersey Shore having to delay shooting their show in Italy, you know it’s a slow weekend… Happy Mother’s Day!  For some this news could be a gift!  But don’t get too excited.  The show will go on.

‘Jersey Shore’ Pauly D Gets HUGE Break From 50 Cent

According to TMZ‘s sources, the delay has been caused by a “logistical problem” and the show should get going on Saturday.  So yes, Italy… continue to brace yourself for impact.  Countdown is at SIX days…..

She’s baaacccckk. Paula Abdul is back in Simon Cowell’s life as one of the judges on the upcoming US ‘X-Factor’. Sources have told THR that the deal is done and Paula will be part of the highly-anticipated show that will be aired in September.

X-Factor starts filming today and Paula will join already announced judges Cheryl Cole and Antonio L.A. Reid. The deal for Paula to join was right down to the wire. Apparently Saturday afternoon they were still negotiating over some aspect of the contract that would have conflicted with her CBS show Live To Dance. But they got it all worked out and she will have her cute buns in the chair today to start judging.

‘X Factor’ Is Already Breaking Records

As we previosuly reported, X-Factor will be hosted by former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and U.K. presenter Steve Jones. I’m loving the group of people the U.S. version of X-Factor has assembled. If America hasn’t already fallen in love with Cheryl Cole you know they will once this show hits the air. And who doesn’t love Paula Abdul? It will be incredible to have Antonio L.A. Reid on the show. He’s a very well-respected musical producer that has been around for a long time. To meet with his approval on that show will be a big deal.
