James McAvoy to Go Into a Trance

James McAvoy is reportedly in talks for one of the leads in Danny Boyle’s next project, a psychological thriller called Trance. It was initially reported that he was to take over the role thought to belong to McAvoy’s X-Men: First Class co-star, Michael Fassbender.
Fassbender did pass on the role of Simon, but that is not the role that has now been offered to McAvoy. No other details on the role he will play have been given. The film is a remake of a made-for-TV British film. It centers around an auction house employee who helps a gang of thieves to steal a valuable piece of art. Complications arise after an accomplice is hit in the head and suffers amnesia and consequently forgets where the painting is hidden.
What sounded like a good fit for Michael Fassbender could also work well for McAvoy, regardless of the role. I’m anxious to see how Boyle rounds out his cast.
The film is currently in pre-production and shooting should begin this fall as Boyle is set to direct the opening ceremony for London’s 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Trance has already been scheduled for a February 2013 release.
