Deadline has reported that The Killer Elite, an independently-produced action adventure excuse to stick Jason Statham and Clive Owen in one movie, has set a September 23, 2011 release date. The film is the first to be distributed by Open Road Films, a new label created by AMC and Regal Entertainment.

The film revolves around a retired SAS  (Britain’s Elite Special Air Service) officer (Jason Statham) is forced out of retirement when old comrades start being murdered. Robert DeNiro plays Statham’s mentor.

Admit it, don’t these guys look like they could be special ops secret agent type guys? Clive’s character has been referred to as a “cunning leader”…*thud* BEST. DOUBLE. ENTENDRE. EVER!

Poor Shania Twain. It’s been forever since she’s been out of the spotlight and last night while she was making her way to the stage at the CMT Awards where she was introducing the nominees for best male video of the year she slipped and fell. By the time she got up on the stage she was laughing. Wouldn’t you be mortified?

Have you ever fallen in an embarrassing situation and felt mortified? I did once on Valentine’s Day as we were going out for dinner. My husband stopped the SUV for me to run in and check what the wait time was. My leg got tangled up in my purse strap (which I had on the floor by my feet) and I fell right out of the truck. I imagine it looked hysterical to people who were just looking at the truck and they see some chick fall out of it. I immediately got back in (some guy came rushing to try to help me up) looked at my husband and said ‘let’s get out of here’. You can imagine how PACKED the parking lot was on Valentine’s Day. At the time I was mortified but now I laugh.

If you have a funny story about falling (of course it’s only funny if no one got hurt) drop it in the comments section. I would love to read it.

Yesterday the temperature in Toronto soared and it wasn’t just weather-related.  And all of your NKOTBSB hotties were there performing at the Air Canada Centre: Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, A.J. McLeanand Howie Dorough.

What do you think of New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys getting together for these concerts? It’s a great idea isn’t it? All that boy-band badness in one place. Jordan Knight seems to think it’s a winning combination:

“We have enough hits under our belts [...] there are two boy bands coming together to entertain the masses. I think people really like that.”

“It’s going to be all about the music and all about the guys. There’s a lot of hits and there’s two groups. If one group starts getting tired on the stage, you pass it to the next group. The next group brings the energy up.”

Were you at the concert last night? Do you plan to see it wherever you live? I had the opportunity to attend last night but I couldn’t. I know, right? Let’s hope that they keep this up and tour together. It seems to be a winning tour.

Last night they drew a crowd of 14,000 and they play another show in Toronto tonight.

Shania Twain receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Shania Twain is the new act heading to Sin City!  We’ve seen Celine Dion and Garth Brooks as two of the biggest acts on the strip.  Well now Shania is taking over Las Vegas!

She’s kicking off a two-year gig at Caesars Colosseum in Sin City beginning in December 2012.  This is crazy… we haven’t seen her perform since 2002.

“I feel like I’m on top of the world,” Twain said in a statement. “Honestly, I feel like I climbed a giant mountain.  My whole career has been in competition. I’m not counting or anything, it takes too much energy. I’m just gonna get out there and do what I do,” she said.   “The tour and radio industry is highly competitive,” Twain added. “If you can survive that, you can survive Vegas.”

So what will life be like?

“The schedule is being planned out in a way that I can, ya know, really get satisfaction personally and professionally,” she told Us Weekly. “Of course Fred and Eja will be with me pretty much all the time I am there… I really don’t like separating those two lives. They really have to go together.”

Some stars try to keep it really separate,  but Shania has found a very happy medium.  I am digging it.  Big time.

The Fighter

Mark Wahlberg is ready for another round of Fighting. And um, I am ready to watch him do it.  Yummo.  The clip below is from the Spike Awards where we got a bit of insight:

“We left out the Aturo Gatti fights for a reason,” Wahlberg announced, following the film’s win for “Guy Movie of the Year”, “Because that’s for ‘Fighter 2′. We’re not going to do ‘Fighter’ 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, but we’re gonna do 2. We’re gonna do the Ward/Gatti trilogy.”
