Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish have joined NBC’s sole remaining Law & Order franchise, “Law & Order: SVU”. That huge wind that just blew through was me breathing a sigh of relief that the new female detective will not be played by Jennifer Love Hewitt. (They must have read yesterday’s post. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)
Kelli Giddish is late of NBC’s “Chase”, which when I remembered to watch it, I enjoyed. I definitely enjoyed the cast, which included Cole Hauser, Jesse Metcalfe and Amaury Nolasco, as well as Giddish and her “steel magnolia” southern drawl. I guess since she’s originally from Georgia, it’s real. That ought to be interesting on a show set in New York City. Hey, they made it work for Fred Dalton Thompson on the original L & O. Prior to “Chase” she was a regular on a series called “The Burg” and another called “Past Life”. Huh? I got nothin’ on either one of them. Probably why they didn’t last.
Attempting to fill the estimable shoes of Det. Elliott Stabler, well, actually actor Chris Meloni, will be Danny Pino, probably most widely known for CBS’s “Cold Case” where he played another cop, Det. Scotty Valens. I’m not sure anyone can replace Stabler (and I’m sure Benson will feel the same way, at least initially), but at least they found us another hottie! Damn!
Okay NBC, you have a reprieve. I will watch your show to see how these two newbies fit in with Olivia, Finn and Munch. Now you’d better start looking for a decent D.A.
