Christopher Meloni Joins the Cast of the New Superman Flick!

Christopher Meloni Joins the Cast of the New Superman Flick!

It seems uber hot Christopher Meloni, has landed on his feet by landing a part in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, and will be adding his steely blue-eyed glare to Man of Steel, although it hasn’t been disclosed exactly what part he will play.

Meloni left television’s “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” after starring for twelve seasons as Detective Elliott Stabler. Contract negotiations were said to have broken down when NBC called his bluff over a salary increase.

It was just two years ago that the network threatened to replace both Meloni and his costar Mariska Hargitay when they haggled over money. Fortunately they came to terms and both actors were signed to return with salary bumps. This time around all parties involved seem to have decided that a change would be a good thing.

Supposedly the show is being retooled and in addition to recasting the male lead, they will add a second female detective. Rumors are that Jennifer Love Hewitt is being considered. (*lalalalalalala I can’t heaaaar youuuuu*)

Back to one of our favorite tattooed tv hunks: it’s said that Meloni wants to break out of his tough guy cop persona.  I’d be happy if he continued to play ‘hard men’. (yeah I said it) I first noticed him in HBO’s “Oz”. If you haven’t seen it, trust me, he was one dead sexy sick twist. He was hilarious in Wet Hot American Summer and appeared in both Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanemo Bay,  so he can do comedy, but the whispers say he’ll segue into Snyder’s Man of Steel to play a tough guy general, although it will not be the infamous General Zod. This is still just informed conjecture at this point.

In any case, Meloni will join a cast that includes  Henry Cavill as Superman,  Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe and Julia OrmondMan of Steel is scheduled for a December 2012 release.

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz Got MARRIED!

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz Got MARRIED!

That’s right, after a seriously short (by their standards anyway) courtship, Daniel Craig 43, and Rachel Weisz 41, reportedly stood before a judge in New York on Wednesday June 22 with only four people present.  Aside from two unnamed friends, the only other witnesses to the surprise nuptials were Craig’s daughter Ella, from his first marriage to Fiona Loudon, and Weisz’s five year old son, Henry, from her relationship with director Darren Aronofsky.

Okay, raise your hand if you saw THAT coming! I have to admit I’m one of those people who think they make a gorgeous couple, but come on! If I were Satsuki Mitchell or Darren Aronofsky, I think I’d be PISSED!  Daniel Craig was with Mitchell for five years and reportedly engaged.  Aronofsky and Weisz were definitely engaged for most of their eight and a half year relationship, not to mention they have a kid together. When they split, it wasn’t so much a ‘break up’ as it was a divorce, lack of a license not withstanding. As Meg Ryan said in When Harry Met Sally, the first relationship you have after a big breakup isn’t supposed to be “the one”, they’re supposed to be your “transition person”.

Both Craig and Weisz have films coming out this year, separately and together. Craig has the upcoming Cowboys & Aliens, as well as The Adventures of Tintin and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo while Weisz has The WhistleblowerThe Deep Blue Sea and Page Eight.  Despite the fact that they supposedly began their relationship when they worked together on director Jim Sheridan’s (In the Name of the FatherIn America)Dream House, Both are very private people, so it really seems out of character for both of them for this to be a publicity stunt. (kidding! Of course it’s not. This is the real deal and I know they’ll last forever. What? You don’t think I’m serious?)

Congratulations to the happy couple. I wish the newlyweds every happiness!

Lady Gaga was out in Japan for a very good cause: the aid of Japan.  Since the tsunami and earthquakes, the people of Japan have been left in a world of devastation.  She rocked the MTV Video Music Aid Japan special.   Singing Edge of Glory and Born This Way, she inspired the crowd and owned the stage.

Lady Gaga Talks Love and Acting

“I can’t say enough to people all over the world that the majority of Japan right now, Japan in general, is very safe,” Gaga told reporters during her visit to the earthquake-ravaged country. “It’s fine to come here. It’s beautiful.”

Remember how Justin Bieber refused to cancel his concerts there?  Should the rest of the world quit being afraid of Japan too?

Dimension Films has dropped the trailer for Apollo 18. If you like crap-your-pants horror flicks, this one is for you.  This one lands on September 2 in theaters nationwide.  Here’s the scoop:

Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it’s the real reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.

Cee Lo Green Bacardi 'Like It Live It Together' event

Cee Lo Green was supposed to be a big opening act for Rihanna‘s Loud Tour.  But, he’s too damn busy to keep up, so he’s backed out.

His rep  told The New York Times that Greens’ schedule is too full for him to be able to do his best for Rihanna on tour, so he’s gotta bail.  He’s got The Voice on NBC which eats a ton of his time.  Not to mention new music and a book!

“He always puts 100 percent into his work and with the requirements and time commitment to ‘The Voice,’ on top of heading back into the recording studio and an upcoming book, he feels that he wouldn’t give his fans the show that they deserve,” stated his spokesperson.

Rihanna is Feeling The Heat

Roc Nation rapper J. Cole will stay on as her opening act.

What do you think?  Bummer or she doesn’t need him?
