7. Cross your fingers! Bing will give away thousands of dollars to help you enjoy the summer. Everyone who creates a video will be eligible for the chance to win a prize from Bing across six categories: shopping (e.g., Amazon.com gift cards), travel (e.g., gas cards for road trips), music (e.g., gift certificate for Live Nation), movies (e.g., Fandango gift certificates), games (e.g., Xbox points) and “Night Out” (e.g., Visa gift cards). Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are finally going to get married in NYC!   They are already parents to twins, Harper and Gideon.  So now comes the marriage part.

New York state senate and Governor Andrew Cuomo passed gay marriage in NY and Harris is one of many thrilled celebs out there, Tweeting his joys:

“It passed!” he exclaimed. “Marriage equality in New York! Yes! Progress! Thank you everyone who worked so hard on this. A historic night.”

No word on how soon the wedding will take place, but I am sure it will be sooner than later.

Trailer #3 for Cowboys & Aliens! (VIDEO)

Trailer #3 for Cowboys & Aliens!

A third new theatrical trailer has just been released for action adventure sci-fi western, Cowboys & Aliens. Unlike the first two, in this one we get a lot more of gruff talking Harrison Ford, who plays Col. Woodrow Dolarhyde, who appears to be reluctantly trying to persuade the townsfolk to follow Daniel Craig’s mysterious stranger, so that their combined forces can defend the town against the alien invasion.

I’m all for Harrison Ford being Harrison Ford and we also seem to get a glimpse of how Daniel Craig’s Jake Lonergan came to wind up with that cool hunk of jewelry on his arm. The film, which screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have described as “Unforgiven with aliens landing” is directed by Jon Favreau (I will always think Swingers no matter how many other films he does) and produced by Steven Spielberg and my bff Ryan Kavanaugh (among others) and also stars Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Paul Danno, Walton Goggins, Keith Carradine and Clancy Brown.  I’m so excited for this movie. (Gee, can you tell?) It better live up to all the hype that is coming at us, faster and more furiously as the release date approaches…just sayin’.
Cowboys & Aliens opens in the US and Canada on 29 July 2011. The UK and the rest of the world, unfortunately, have to wait until August.

Shah Rukh Khan ‘Kingdom of Dreams’ Press Conference 2011 IIFA (PHOTOS)

Shah Rukh Khan ‘Kingdom of Dreams’ Press Conference 2011 IIFA

Bollywood heartthrob Sharukh (Shah Rukh) Khan attended the Kingdom of Dreams’ press conference at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto during the three-day IIFA 2011.

King Khan, as he is affectionately known, may not be able to perform at the closing of the IIFA 2011 due to a knee problem that he tweeted has degenerated in several places and is not very good. He said at the press conference:

“It’s quite painful to dance, but as always I will try my best to dance and entertain my fans in Toronto. Anyways, it was not like I am the best dancer anyway,”

Kingdom of Dreams is a new Bollywood stage show that is headed by choreographer Shaimak Davar who also attended the press conference. Says Khan:

“Shiamak is amazing. I’d like to say, one of the greatest properties we have in terms of choreography, dancers and live shows and I’d like to wish him all the best.”

Tonight is the grande finale of the International  Indian Film Academy.

Pictures after the break.

First Look at John Cusack in ‘The Raven’

First Look at John Cusack in The Raven

From Relativity Media comes the first look at John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe in director James McTeigue’s The Raven, about the last days in the tempestuous life of the tortured writer. Relativity has also released an official synopsis:

“In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allen Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta), the film also stars Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster).

When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields (Luke Evans) makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper—part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story.

Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.”

Director McTeigue has described the film as Poe’s poem ‘The Raven’ “crossed with Se7en“. I’ve been a John Cusack fan since Better Off Dead so this one’s definitely on my radar. He certainly looks the part.

The Raven (which is only a working title, by the way, so it may change) will screen at San Diego’s Comic Con next month and opens in theaters in the US on 9 March 2012.

James McAvoy to Go Into a Trance

James McAvoy to Go Into a Trance

James McAvoy is reportedly in talks for one of the leads in Danny Boyle’s next project, a psychological thriller called Trance. It was initially reported that he was to take over the role thought to belong to McAvoy’s X-Men: First Class co-star, Michael Fassbender.

Fassbender did pass on the role of Simon, but that is not the role that has now been offered to McAvoy. No other details on the role he will play have been given. The film is a remake of a made-for-TV British film. It centers around an auction house employee who helps a gang of thieves to steal a valuable piece of art. Complications arise after an accomplice is hit in the head and suffers amnesia and consequently forgets where the painting is hidden.

What sounded like a good fit for Michael Fassbender could also work well for McAvoy, regardless of the role. I’m anxious to see how Boyle rounds out his cast.

The film is currently in pre-production and shooting should begin this fall as Boyle is set to direct the opening ceremony for London’s 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Trance has already been scheduled for a February 2013 release.
