New International Trailer for The Adventures of Tintin!

New International Trailer for The Adventures of Tintin!

Last week we showed you the first image from the film, this week we’re bringing you a look at the international trailer for Steven Spielberg’s very first animated film, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn! (Another film with a long title, this one is not a sequel, but my guess is they’re hoping for one.)

The plot, which is very evident from the trailer, and I do hope isn’t revealing too much, concerns a young man called Tintin, a reporter, who discovers the directions to a sunken ship and embarks on a hunt for missing treasure.

Tintin features the voices of Jamie Bell as Tin Tin, Simon Pegg as Inspector Thompson, Nick Frost as Inspector Thomson, Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock and Daniel Craig as Red Rackham, the villain of the piece. This role was reportedly expanded from the comic books, which I must say I am unfamiliar with. The character originated in Belgium and there was a short-lived British animated series in the early 90′s. Despite my limited familiarity, I am completely open to this and look forward to being wowed yet again by Spielberg.

The film was shot using the same motion capture technology used in The Polar Express, but has progressed since then so that the result looks decidedly less creepy.  Jamie Bell’s and Daniel Craig’s voices were the only ones I recognized. Andy Serkis, not known for his voice anyway, was probably brought on board because of his expertise in motion capture filming – I’m kidding! Although he’s probably far more at ease in the “mo-cap” suit than the other actors were. Craig talked about wearing the embarrassing outifit in the August issue of Esquire magazine.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn opens in 3D in the UK on October 26th and in the US on December 23rd.
