Olivia Wilde Was Tired of Pretending To Be Happy In Her Marriage

Olivia Wilde has spoken up about ending her 9-year marriage to Italian Prince Tao Ruspoli and it wasn’t because of a third-party but because she was tired of pretending to be happy:
“After really trying to make the relationship evolve in the way our lives had, I realised it wasn’t a natural evolution.
“When the relationship becomes about working to make it work, it’s lost that beauty and that optimistic bohemian sense that brought us together. I don’t think love should be work. My parents have been married for 35 years. They said, ‘You have to work at it. That’s what it takes.’ But we tried, and it wasn’t making us happy.
“In the end, maybe it’s just that I’m a ridiculous romantic. I have very high standards for every part of life – my work, my relationships, food, love. I can’t just pretend.”
Marriage does take work, but I think one comes to a point where you realize it’s not working and it sounds like that’s obvious where they ended up.

I don’t blame her for having high standards, though. Life is too short and why settle, right? That’s not to say one expects perfection, because it just doesn’t exist, but if it’s right it’s right and if it’s not it’s not.
What do you think? Is divorce too common-place nowadays?
