Teaser Trailer For The Avengers is Online!

Teaser Trailer For The Avengers is Online!

At the end of this summer’s Captain America: The First Avenger there is a very fitting teaser for next summer’s The Avengers. It was shown at last weekend’s Comic Con and now thanks to Yahoo Movies, it is finally available online!

It’s the perfect setup, naturally, but if you have yet to see Captain America: The First Avenger, you might want to hold off. I will say, that when you see it in theaters, the teaser does go further than what is shown here, (and there is a very low-res bootleg online somewhere if you just HAVE to see it.) but it does start with the very end of the movie. It all depends on how much you already know and how much you want to know going in, whether or not you should watch now. In any case, it’s available.

I’m not sure whether this will entice anyone to go see CA:TFA if they haven’t already made up their minds to do so, especially when the full teaser in a high quality format will, I’m sure, eventually make it’s way to the interwebz. I realize, however, that this is merely the opening salvo in a year-long campaign to keep the new movie in mind.

The Avengers doesn’t open until May 2012, but we’ve already been treated to some conceptual art character posters. Marvel is pretty much betting the farm on the success of this franchise so I can understand their eagerness to get the PR ball rolling. Frankly, unless Joss Whedon, who is both writer and director, completely screws the pooch, I don’t see how The Avengers can lose.  The whole gang will be together again for the first time: Robert Downey, Jr.’s Iron Man, Scarlett Johannson’s Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Mark Ruffalo taking over The Hulk from Edward Norton plus the addition of Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

Thanks to DigitalSpy, we have some caps from the teaser. The Avengers is in theaters from 4 May 2012 everywhere. Captain America: The First Avenger is in theaters now.
