Lionsgate has released new set pics for Gavin O’Connor’s action drama, Warrior featuring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton (some are even shirtless!). Hardy plays Tom Conlon, a recently returned vet, the youngest son of an alcoholic former boxer (Nick Nolte) who also happens to have been his coach. Tom enlist his help in training him for a mixed martial arts competition that will award the biggest prize in the history of the sport. The fight will end up putting Tom in the ring with his older brother Brendan (Joel Edgerton),a former MMA fighter and now a school teacher with a wife, kids and money problems. The two brothers have to confront each other as well as the problems that have kept them apart.
The cast also includes Jennifer Morrison (“House”) as Brendan’s wife Tess, Noah Emmerich, Kevin Dunn, and the director himself, Gavin O’Connor
Warrior has been completed for over a year and finally has a distributor. It opens September 9 in the US & Canada and 23 September in the UK. Can’t wait!
Sean Bean, late of HBO’s “Game of Thrones”, has been cast in one of the Snow White Films currently in production. He’ll join the talented cast of Tarsim Singh’s (The Immortals) version, which was going by the title The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, but is now referred to as “untitled Snow White project”. It would make sense for Snow White to both remain in the title and be right up front, but it will have to compete with Snow White and the Huntsmen. The two films are already engaged in a game of leapfrog in terms of release dates, ticket buyers need to be able to clearly differentiate between them other than “the one with Julia Roberts” or “the one with Thor and ‘Mopey’ from Twilight”.
This one’s currently filming in Montreal and is being produced by Ryan Kavanaugh and Relativity Media from a script by first time screenwriter Melissa Wallack and Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher). Sean Bean is in final talks to play Snow White’s (Lily Collins The Blind Side, Priest) father (the King), married to her stepmother (Julia Roberts as the ‘Evil Queen’). The Social Network‘s Armie Hammer will play the presumably charming Prince Andrew Alcott.
No word on the dwarves for this one yet (maybe they can borrow some from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. They seem to have plenty.) but, some comic relief should come from Nathan Lane who has been cast as Brighton, “a hapless and bungling servant”.
I love the idea of Sean Bean joining this or in fact, any film. However, if the story follows the fairy tale, then it doesn’t look like his character’s fate will be much improved from that of Lord Eddard Stark in “Game of Thrones”, among others. Poor Beans.
The Untitled Snow White Project is currently slated to be released on March 26, 2012 after the last leap over Snow White and the Huntsman left them behind at June 1, 2012
…well, only quasi-frightening to be honest. But we haven’t gotten anything new on Craig Gillespie’s Fright Night reboot in awhile, so it’s still a welcome teaser. And I will say that the more I see, the more curious I become. And of course…then there’s Colin Farrell. I may just be as unable to resist his charms as Toni Collette or Imogen Poots. While I don’t think that there is necessarily more of Colin’s Jerry Dandridge in this clip, at least it is comprised, for the most part, of bits we haven’t previously seen. I have to admit I laughed at Charley’s (Anton Yelchin), “You read way too much ‘Twilight’.” brush off of ‘Evil’ Ed (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Ed’s retort. It doesn’t sound like Ed is refuting that he’s read any ”Twilight”, which frankly should be as much of a concern to Charley as the fact that Ed is comparing his new neighbor to the shark fromJaws.
I do think Fright Night is attempting the same sly wit as the original, which was something in the vein (in the vein…get it?) of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” as opposed to “The Vampire Diaries” or “True Blood”. I’ll miss Roddy McDowell’s Peter Vincent, but I also admit that David Tennant’s version is one of the aspects I’m most curious about.
Here’s the thing that will probably prevent me from seeing this flick on opening weekend. It opens Friday August 19 I already have that date circled on my calendar (in ink). I have an assignation with my new boyfriend. His new movie opens that day as well. Maybe you’ve heard of it? A little indie called Conan the Barbarian? So it’s Jason vs Colin in a fight to the death (That looks weird, as in Jason Voorhees weird. But at least Jason Voorhees always came out on top in his umpteen screen matchups, so it could be worse.) So who will you have your money on?
Okay, Lionsgate is officially trying to kill me. (I’m sorry I said what I said about Shattered okay? You win!) Seriously, this new trailer from Lionsgate and Dark Horse Comics (the publishers of the Conan the Barbarian Comics based on the works of Robert E. Howard) … is friggin’ AWESOME!
It’s the best one yet, no doubt. There’s more of everything we liked about the previous trailers not to mention the visuals are clearer and the sound quality is better. My question at this point is, if they can make this trailer look this good on my 2D computer monitor, why the hell did the movie need to be retrofitted for 3D? Just sayin’.
“Live. Love. Slay.” Behold the dangerous beauty that is Jason Momoa as Conan the Barbarian…
Oh by the way, I’ve been doing this man a disservice…and that just won’t stand. I’ve been calling him “Samoan” because I read it somewhere, and he’s actually Hawaiian. Half Hawaiian at that. The other half is Irish and Native American. Which, I must say is still an insanely hot combination. The other thing is, I’ve been totally objectifying him and he’s “an artist through and through. An artist stuck in this big guy’s body.” He says he just wants to constantly be doing something “creative.”
He’s acted in, produced and directed two short films from his own scripts. He created two cute kids with Lisa Bonet, which may be the hottest thing about him. He’s totally nuts about his partner (He calls her his wife but, I can’t find any confirmation they’re married-they’re probably happier than most people with the paper. They live this artsy bohemian existence in the hills above Los Angeles in a grove of Meyer lemon trees. *sigh*). And that is just sexy. It also makes him one helluva DILF. I can’t help it! He also likes older women. His last long term relationship before Bonet (who is 12 years his senior), was with Simmone Mackinnon (Yes, Gerard Butler fans, that Simmone Mackinnon. I told you all roads lead to G. Still don’t believe me? Jason Momoa built his Conan body with the 87eleven stunt team, that also helped whip Gerard Butler into 300 shape.) Sorry to go all fan girly-but I may be in love.
Take a seat. Seriously, some very beautiful Jason Momoa pictures below!
Kudos to thefilmstage for sharing their exclusive look at the new poster for Captain America: The First Avenger. This one is, in a word, awesome! All of the major characters are represented and no one looks ridiculous for starters (see poster for The Three Musketeers).
One more week! All of the promotional stuff that Marvel and Paramount have been throwing out in the past few has really gotten me curious. As I’ve said before I’m new to the Chris Evans bandwagon. I do have to admit he gained a lot of ground with his appearance on Jimmy Fallon last week. He just seems like such a nice guy! Maybe it’s PR for the film, I don’t know but I got a kick out of him.
He plays a mean game of beer pong too!
Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters July 22 with a trailer for The Amazing Spider-Manattached.
