European film studio Pathe has released the first teaser for Meryl Streep’s next piece of Oscar bait, The Iron Lady. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, who also directed la Streep in 2008′s Mama Mia, and a script by Abi Morgan, co-writer of Steve McQueen’s forthcoming Shame with Michael Fassbender, The Iron Lady tells the story of  Britain’s first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (Streep) and focuses on the price this strong and complex woman paid for power.

Jim Broadbent (whom most probably know as Professor Slughorn from the Harry Potter films) co-stars as Thatcher’s supportive spouse Denis Thatcher. (Harry Lloyd, late of HBO’s “Game of Thrones”, plays him as a young man. I just found out he’s the great, great, great grandson of Charles Dickens. Sorry, I think that’s cool. Don’t judge.) Newcomer Alexandra Roach plays the young Maggie. The rest of the cast includes Anthony Head (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Richard E. Grant (whose list of credits is longer than my arm, including The Age of Innocence,Dracula and Gosford Park), Nicholas Farrell (“The Jury”) and a whole host of talented British character actors, because everyone in that country can act.

The Iron Lady is slated for an awards qualifying December 16, 2011 release here in the US. Movie goers in the UK will have to wait until 6 January 2012.

OMG OMG OMG! Conan the Barbarian himself, that hot dollop of Samoan buttercream, Jason Momoa the eponymous barbarian in Marcus Nispel’s new film is going to be in San Diego for Comic Con! Lionsgate has just announced that Momoa, along with Rachel Nichols and Stephen Lang will be at the Lionsgate booth (that’s booth #3729 – just an FYI. I’m a giver) Friday, July 22 from 5 to 6 p.m.  Any of you fangurrls get a pic,  share the love and send it this way!

*Fans self* Okay, now that I’ve had one girly moment, prepare for another one:  One, make that two, of our other boyfriends are heading to the Convention Center as well.  Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton will also be at the Lionsgate booth on Friday July22. Get there early, they’ll be there from 1-2 p.m in support of Gavin O’Connor’s Warrior. SKWEEE!  Fangurrls, your assignment remains the same for these two. *sigh*

And for any of you Twi-hards…yes, Taylor Lautner is going to Comic Con. He’ll be part of the Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 47…er part 1, panel on Thursday July 21, along with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson (Good lord, would the sky fall if one showed and the other didn’t)  Lautner will also be at the Lionsgate booth on the same day to support his new thriller Abduction.

Marvel has released two featurettes from EPIX, with a behind-the-scenes peek at the making of Captain America: The First Avenger.  The more I see on this film, from clips like these to the trailer to the posters, I’m liking it! Chris Evans has managed to win me over, with what I’ve managed to glean from the limited footage available, with his heartfelt portrayal of poor spindly Steve Rogers who only wants the chance to fight for his country and his transition to beefy Captain America.

I’m sure the thing will be preposterous, as all good comic book movies should be; no one thought Thor was a documentary, but it appears to be well made and, most important of all, fun!

In the first clip we see Evans, along with co-producer Steve Broussard, prop master Barry Gibbs (Gibbs with an ‘s’ – not the oldest member of the Bee Gees. And can I just say that I love the way the Brits pronounce aluminum?) discuss the title character as well as how they came up with the famous shield. We also get to hear Stanley Tucci’s Albert Einstein impression in voice-over.

In the second, we see producer Broussard, along with Costume Designer Anna B. Shepherd, discuss the film’s period costume and set design and staying true to the look and feel of the 40′s. We also get Richard Armitage.  Until he looked up and I saw his gorgeous eyes, I had no idea that was him. Nice haircut.

I’m still with Hayley Atwell. Every time I see her reach for the chest, I want her to go for it!

Chris Evans and the rest of the amazing cast of Captain America: The First Avenger blast into theaters July 22 in the US & Canada and 29 July in the UK.

Daniel Craig, star of the upcoming Cowboys & Aliens (surely you’ve heard of it – okay I won’t call you Shirley) as well as David Fincher’s remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Jim Sheridan’s Dream House AND Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of TinTin, is on the cover of this month’s Esquire Magazine. He talks about all of those films as well as ‘being Bond’, parenting and all sorts of other fun stuff. It’s a great read. Craig comes across just as I imagined he would: taciturn, as if he finds the whole interview process unacceptably intrusive, however he knows it’s part of the job. He also comes across as fiercely intelligent, which I looooove. Smarts is very sexy.

I also love what he had to say about making “adult” movies, particularly The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo:

“It’s as adult as you can possibly make it. This is adult drama. I grew up, as we fucking all did, watching The Godfather and that, movies that were made for adults. And this is a $100 million R-rated movie. Nobody makes those anymore. And Fincher, he’s not holding back. They’ve given him free rein. He showed me some scenes recently, and my hand was over my mouth, going, Are you fucking serious?”

Anyone who knows me, knows how I feel about “adult” (small ‘a’ -not porn) movies, so if those eyes didn’t already have me, this would have.

Daniel Craig is not in it. He is however in the movie and had this to say about the wearing of the motion capture suit:

“We shot it in mo-cap. Which is like: Fuck me, I’m literally in a leotard with a fucking helmet on, and a camera strapped to it. It’s Steven Spielberg, so every fucker in the world comes to visit. Fincher comes to visit. Clint fucking Eastwood comes to visit. It was just like, are you kidding me? I’m gonna meet these people dressed like this? Playing a pirate, wearing a leotard and a camera? Really?”

Ya know, I’d probably give up a limb to have seen that.

The last people you would think to cover Adele’s Rolling in the Deep would be Linkin Park, but you know what? They did a great job. I have to be honest I’ve heard of Linkin Park but I’ve not listened to their music (that I was aware of) but I’m really impressed with them doing Rolling in the Deep.

Selena Gomez and boyfriend Justin Bieber enjoyed some down time in Hawaii and what’s a vacation without snapping pictures of yourself and them getting leaked?

You guessed it. A photo of what appears to be Selena Gomez has leaked from her iPhone. How do these things happen? Either way she has an incredible body. I seriously need to get my ass in workout mode!

Although the face is hidden by the hair, it looks like Selena Gomez to me. What do you think?
