New Poster for The Adventures of TinTin!

“What secrets do you hold?”

Dreamworks has released, via the movie’s Facebook page, another new poster for Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin. This one defiintely puts the focus on the ‘adventure’, rather than Tintin as some sophisticated world traveler. There’s an old fashioned galleon with what appear to be holes made from canon-fire in the sails, a biplane and what can only be the results of a shipwreck. Maybe the ship being shelled with canon-fire. Whatd’ya think? The disembodied heads are a little odd. Are those Tintin’s guardian angels? (Actually it’s Captain Haddock, and Inspectors Thompson and Thomson) This poster is also brighter and more colorful. I love the look of what we’ve seen of this film. All I can think of is  ‘burnished-comic book’. The images all seem imbued with a soft golden glow that just seems friendlier than your typical animated or even motion-capture film. The technology has certainly moved light years away from The Polar Express, which was kind of scary. If I were a little kid seeing that movie, I’d have nightmares.

A short synopsis: Tintin and his friends discover the map to a sunken ship commanded by Capt. Haddock’s ancestor and go off on a treasure hunt.

I’m really looking forward to this. Steven Moffat (“Dr. Who”, “Sherlock”), Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs the World) and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) are all writers that seem to have a good handle on the current zeitgeist but also a healthy respect for history, both real and cinematic. I can’t wait to hear what words they’ve put into the mouths of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost yet again and in particular.

The rest of the cast includes Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis, Toby Jones, Cary Elwes, Tony Curran, Daniel Mays and Jamie Bell as Tintin. The Adventures of Tintin hits the UK on 26 October and the US & Canada on December 23.
