Earnest New Poster for Clooney’s The Ides of March!

Check out this new poster for George Clooney’s political drama, The Ides of March. Directed by and starring our man George, it also stars the man of 2011, Ryan Gosling. He’s gone from helping Steve Carrell with his love life to driving for the movies and the mob to helping get Clooney elected president. Gosling’s a busy guy.
Baby Goose plays Stephen Myers, an idealistic young staffer on Governor Mike Morris’ (Clooney) presidential campaign. The Morris campaign seems to have the fast track until an opposing candidate approaches Myers with an offer and with the resulting scandal, he gets to see the seedy underbelly of American politics. Oooo Loves me a political thriller!
We can expect to see Clooney and Gosling pulling up in a stretch gondola to step out onto the red carpet in Venice on Wednesday August 31 since The Ides of March will be the opening night selection of that city’s 68th annual Film Festival. The film then hops on a plane to cross the pond to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival.Gosling, who won critical acclaim at last year’s TIFF with Derek Cianfrance’s Blue Valentine, will also be there to support his other fall release, Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive, which will also screen in Toronto.
Not sure what I think about this poster. It definitely says “SERIOUS DRAMA”. Also starring Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Max Minghella, The Ides of March opens in the US on October 7 and in the UK on 28 October.
