Is this thing cool or what? This is the brand new international quad poster for Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy which will be released to UK theaters on 16 September (which is in three weeks.*shakes fist* Bastards!) but not until November 18 in the colonies. This poster features Gary Oldman front and center, as he should be since the film revolves around his character, George Smiley, but also Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong and Benedict Cumberbatch, among others, and I think even more than the brilliant “coded” one-sheets (another of which is below), having them all on one poster gives a better sense of the film.

Brace yourselves everyone, The Fall Movie Season is about to start! Actually, more to the point, AWARDS SEASON is starting. All the best films are being trotted out by the studios like debs at the Mayflower Club. There are only two other films I’m as excited about as I amTinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (I’m sure you can guess which ones. I’ll give you a hint – their names start with Machine Gun Preacher andCoriolanus. There are others I’m dying to see but those are definitely my top three must-not-miss-at-any-cost).

Director Tomas Alfredson has already had a brilliant career in his native Sweden, but it took a crossover hit like Let the Right One In to bring him to the attention of Hollywood (even though his English language debut is a very British movie). He’s assembled the cast of a lifetime for this movie and frankly, unless he’s bungled it very badly, like given Adam Sandler a cameo or something equally stupid, then I don’t see how this can miss. This has Best Picture nominee written all over it. Stay tuned, I’ve no doubt there’ll be more goodies doled out in the run up to release.
