Poster number two for David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method is MUCH better than the first version. This one is still geared toward the European film market since it’s in French, and it still carries the Venice Film Festival logo in the upper left hand corner (which makes me wonder why it’s not in Italian. Is French the universal language of pretentious artistes and film festivals?) The difference (other than the better Photoshop), however, is that while Keira Knightley is still in the center of the two men, a metaphor to be sure, they at least don’t appear to be peering over her shoulders like the poster for a bad rom-com.

There is nothing “com” about this film and I suspect there’s very little “rom” either. The relationships in A Dangerous Method are more of the adult variety, omitting the pandering to teen-aged boys altogether. The film tells the tale of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud and their troubled patient, Sabine Spielrein.

Viggo Mortensen, who worked for Cronenberg in A History of Violence and again in Eastern Promises, plays Freud. He is joined by Michael Fassbender as Jung and, of course, Keira Knightley as Sabine.  Vincent Cassell is also along for the ride and since it hasn’t been made clear in the trailers, I can’t wait to find out just what his character’s story is. He’s always interesting to watch. Christopher Hampton wrote the script, adapting his own 2002 play, “The Talking Cure”.

A Dangerous Method will play the Venice Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival before opening in the US on November 23 and 10 February in the UK.

Kelly Clarkson 29, is looking absolutely GORGEOUS and fabulous on the set of her music video Mr. Know It All. She tweeted the picture of her and Aben Eubanks in which she tweeted (or is it twatted? I never know the proper Twitter language):

Seriously how gorgeous does Kelly Clarkson look? I’ve always thought she looked great, but she looks to have lost some weight but her hair is to die for! I think she’s lightened up the color of her hair as well. This color looks fabulous on her!

Check out these new posters and pics for the remake of 1984′s Footloose. It’s kind of sad that I’m no longer in the demographic this film is aiming for. I don’t think too many of us who remember fondly the original will be lining up to see this one. It’s kind of like when your friends have kids and those kids graduate from high school it somehow makes you feel older than if they were your own.

In any case, if you need a refresher, here’s the official synopsis (from the film’s website, something the producer’s of the original would probably have thought Orwellian): Writer/Director Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan) delivers a new take of the beloved* 1984 classic Footloose. Ren MacCormack (played by newcomer Kenny Wormald) is transplanted from Boston** to the small southern town of Bomont*** where he experiences a heavy dose of culture shock. A few years prior,  the community was rocked by a tragic accident that killed five teenagers after a night out and Bomont’s local councilmen and teh beloved Reverand Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid) responded by implementing ordinances that prohibit loud music and dancing. Not one to bow to the status quo++, Ren challenges the ban, revitalizing the town and falling in love with the minister’s troubled daughter, Ariel (Julianne Hough) in the process.

*Beloved? (a word used 2x in the synopsis) but if it were truly “beloved” why remake it at all?

**At least they recognized Wormald’s accent for what it was and changed Ren from a New Yorker to a Bostonian

***Bomont? Seriously? How about Beaumont, as in the approx.100 towns already called that. Do we really need to spell phonetically now?

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is celebrating some good news this weekend: Lisa Vanderpump’s daughter Pandora 24, is getting married. It’s been a very rough couple of weeks for the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills what with Russell Armstrong committing suicide. However, given that this wedding has been in the makings for a while, it will go on as scheduled.

Pandora has been keeping the engagement hush-hush, but Radar Online is reporting the nuptials will happen tomorrow in Lisa Vanderpump’s house to a guest-list of 275 in a pink themed wedding with a dinner (which you just KNOW will be out-of-this-world delicious):

“Wedding guests will enjoy a seven-course dinner of filet mignon or Chilean sea bass,” the source said.”They will begin with a typical cocktail hour and the ceremony will start around 7:30 p.m., with the Bravo cameras rolling.”

“The wedding is expected to go well into the late hours of the night and it’s a welcomed distraction for the Housewives from all the recent drama”

I would give up a vital organ for an invite to this wedding. Not because Charlie Sheen is expected (which is kind of random to us pheasants) but because I know the meal will be heavenly.

Pandora has been engaged for months and we will have to wait a little bit to see the coverage on Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. You just know that with Lisa Vanderpump behind the festivities it is going to be class, glamour and delicious.

There’s a dramatic new poster for James McTeigue’s The Raven starring John Cusack as Edgar Allen Poe. Cusack’s co-star Luke Evans tweeted the poster earlier today: “New Raven poster! Awesome job guys!!” (@Mr_Luke_Evans)  This one is very cool. Reminds me of some of those Saul Bass posters from the 60s.

The Raven is a fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe’s life, in which the poet joins forces with a Baltimore detective in pursuit of a mad serial killer (are there any other kind?) whose brutal string of murders mirror those in the writer’s stories. Evans plays Det. Emmett Fields.

The official synopsis:  When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper—part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story.
Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.”

Cusack is in talks to star with Nicolas Cage in The Frozen Ground, a drama to shoot this fall in Anchorage, Alaska based on true events surrounding Alaska’s most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen, a respected family man who for over 12 years abducted more than 24 women and flew them into the Alaskan wilderness to be hunted. Cusack would play Hansen while Cage is in talks to play a principled and dedicated Alaskan State Trooper who finds Hansen’s only surviving teen victim alive on the street. Ooooo!

The Raven costars Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (soon to be seen in What’s Your Number?) and will open in the US on March 12, 2012.

Remember Sinead O’Connor? She is the ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ hit maker that is probably known second best for ripping up the Pope’s picture during her spot on Saturday Night Live.

Well, the years (perhaps decades) have gone by and she is in dire need for a man, sexually speaking. So much so, that she has taken to the Irish Independent and penned a column that lists her requirements and dilemma:
