Gerard Butler and Ralph Fiennes Face Off: Official Coriolanus Poster

Gerard Butler and Ralph Fiennes Face Off: Official Coriolanus Poster

The official poster for Ralph Fiennes’ directorial debut, Coriolanus, has at last been revealed. (There had been early versions all the way back to May of 2010.) This one comes from The Weinstein Company. Now that’s a freakin’ poster! Fiennes as Coriolanus in a face off with arch enemy Tullus Aufidius played by Gerard Butler.

The full synopsis (taken from the play): The people of Rome are hungry-they can’t afford to eat and there is widespread rioting. Their anger and resentment turns on Caius Martius, Rome’s most powerful general, who despises the people he serves.

At the same time, Rome is at war with Volsces, a neighboring state, and led by Caius Martius’ sworn enemy, Tullus Aufidius. When Caius captures the Volscian city of Corioles  and the Volscian army is defeated, he is named Coriolanus in honor of his victory and given a hero’s welcome back in Rome.

Coriolanus’ mother Volumnia, who has instilled in him a strict martial code of honor wants him to become a Consul of Rome-an elected post in the Senate. In order to secure the election, Coriolanus must win the support of the people. Though a great warrior, he is loathe to engage in the politicking and currying of favor that he sees as artificial and a complete contradiction of his personal code. The Tribunes, the elected representatives of the people, persuade the masses that they should renege on their votes and refuse Coriolanus the office of Consul. Coriolanus is enraged and his vocal aggression leads to a major riot after which he is banished from Rome.

He ends up in the Volscian capital, Antium and seeks out Aufidius and offers either his life or his services against Rome. Aufidius must choose between the chance to use Coriolanus and become his comrade-in-arms to defeat Rome or kill his life-long rival .

Written by John Logan (GladiatorThe AviatorThe Last SamuraiRangoHugo and Bond 23Coriolanus boasts, in addition to Fiennes and Butler, the uber-talented Vanessa Redgrave as Volumni, Jessica Chastain as Coriolanus’ wife Virgilia, Brian Cox as Menenius and James Nesbitt as Sicinius.

Coriolanus will get an awards hungry  limited U.S. release on December 2nd. the U.K. release is set for 20 January, 2012.

Lionsgate Asks “What Do You Fight For?” Plus EXCLUSIVE Tom Hardy Photo

Lionsgate Asks "What Do You Fight For?" Plus EXCLUSIVE Tom Hardy Photo

On September 9th, the drama Warrior from Lionsgate opens in theaters. I’ve talked about it many, many times already and you probably know how I feel about the film. Warrior is about two brothers, played by Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, who enter an MMA tournament for different reasons and end up having to face each other. To celebrate the film, as well as the “warrior” in all of us, Lionsgate and AMC are sponsoring  a contest. They’re looking for a few good fighters, but not necessarily the kind you are thinking of.

“We Are All Warriors” brings together warriors from all walks of life; the men and women who fight for our country certainly, but also firefighters and police officers who fight for our lives to mothers and fathers fighting for their families, teachers and community activists struggling to make a difference.  Whether it’s for human rights, faith, honor or respect we are ALL fighting battles every day. And in this day and time, it is nice to know we are not alone.

So, the contest wants to know “What Do You Fight For?” You can nominate someone you know (or even yourself)  who fights for something important, that you believe is a true warrior.  The webpage has a ‘wall of fame’ where you can see others who have been nominated alongside characters from the film, and you can vote for those you think deserve to be on the wall. You have a chance to win a home screening of Warrior sponsored by AMC Theatres.

Below is a new image from Warrior, featuring Tom Hardy and is exclusive to I Need My Fix:

Salma Hayek SIZZLES On Allure

Salma Hayek SIZZLES On Allure

Salma Hayek 45, graces the cover of the September issue of Allure Magazine and she is sizzling hot! Ladies if you are concerned about getting older, just take a look at Salma and know that it doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

And she’s coming out with her own skin-care line called Nuance. This is one lady who has worked for her beautiful skin and wants to share it with the world. She talks about being in your 40′s:

“As a woman, you should be more at ease with your sexuality when you are in your 40s,” she says. “You are more self-assured about that part. And that’s the way it should be. If you are a girl who cannot walk in heels, it doesn’t matter how beautiful you are,” she says. “If you look like a chicken that’s been spiked in the feet, it’s not going to be sexy.”

Seriously it is so true what she says. You are self-assured about most everything. It’s a beautiful time, don’t fear it!

Let’s get the pink elephant out of the room: her chesticles. When asked what on her body looked better 10 years ago:

“My boobs, they’re not bad, by the way. I’m not complaining about them.”

Nor is billionaire hubby. Her thoughts on plastic surgery:

“I believe that every woman is entitled to fight to preserve her youth,” she says. But not by becoming overly surgified by celebrity dermatologists. “It’s like the uniform of a generation,” Hayek says. “And it’s not necessarily beautiful. It’s not wrinkled-looking, but it’s not beautiful.”

The September issue of Allure will be available August 23.

New Images from Hugo!

Official Trailer and Poster for Hugo

It’s been awhile since we had any news from Martin Scorsese’s Hugo. It seems like the brains behind every movie coming out from now until the end of the year all get together and pick a day to release a flood of pictures and information and then…nuthin’.  In any case, we’re now in the middle of August, which means the big ‘awards-baiting season’ (kind of like duck hunting season) begins in earnest, so expect the juicy little tidbits to be served up more freely in the weeks to come.

Set in 1930s Paris, Hugo is based on the novel “The Invention of Hugo Cabret” by Brian Selznick (Why they couldn’t keep that title boggles my mind) with a screenplay by John Logan (The Hurt LockerCoriolanus). Hugo (Asa Butterfield) is an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station At the heart of the story is a mystery involving his late father and an ‘automaton’.

Hugo has an insane cast including Chloe Moretz, Sir Ben Kingsley, Sasha Baron Cohen, Ray Winstone, Helen McCrory, Michael Stuhlbarg, Emily Mortimer and Christopher Lee. (Why isn’t he ‘Sir’ Christopher Lee yet? Although to be fair, he is a CBE) The film opens November 23 in the US and Canada and on 2 December in the UK.

Farrah Fawcett Barbie Doll To Aid In Cancer Fight

Farrah Fawcett Barbie Doll To Aid In Cancer Fight

Farrah Fawcett died of anal cancer a little over two years ago at the age of 62. What Farrah will always be remembered for (besides being gorgeous and an original Charlie’s Angel) is the bathing suit poster that was hung on many a boys’ walls back in the day. It also sparked a frenzy to have the Farrah Fawcett hairstyle. Whether your hair could actually do that or not.

To help raise money for the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, Mattel is coming out with the  Barbie Collector Farrah Fawcett doll, which is:

a three-dimensional rendition of the poster — right down to the one-piece red bathing suit, gold necklace and striped beach blanket — is now available.

The prototype for this doll went for $1,500 in November in a mere 20 minutes!

Her best friend of 30 years Alana Stewart is President of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation and says of the doll:

What would Farrah do?” She thinks her late friend would approve. The poster, Stewart says, represents “a sexy, all-American beauty; there is an innocence to it.”

When we were in Germany [for treatments], Farrah told me she was glad she got cancer, because now she could make a difference,”

The foundation is a private foundation that funds many non-profits aimed at cutting-edge treatments and will receive a royalty of every doll that is sold. The doll can be purchased at BarbieCollector.com for $34.95.
