First Look at the Man of Steel!

First Look at the Man of Steel!

Warner Brothers has given us our first glimpse of Henry Cavill in Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel! How cool does this look?

There’s been buzz surrounding this film since the announcement that Snyder would take the reins of the reboot for this iconic character and we’ve still got nearly two years to wait. Snyder beat out the likes of Darren Aronofsky, Duncan Jones (Moon), Tony Scott, Matt Reeves (Let Me In), Jonathan Liebesman (Battle Los Angeles) and Ben Affleck (I was rooting for Ben for 2 reasons. 1. He’s a a very good director 2. He played George Reeves in Hollywoodland. Seemed to have some symmetry) for the job. Opinions have been sharply divided on whether or not Snyder’s suitable for or even up to the task. Personally, I think he’s a very good choice. For one thing, comic book ink seems to run in his veins. Two, I think Superman can benefit from the Snyder style. If you’ve seen 300, you know what that is. It’s kind of fitting that Cavill will become known to American audiences for his next film, Immortals, since direcor Tarsem Singh is obviously very familiar with the ‘Snyder style’.  in any case, I think this puts to rest one hotly debated topic: just what would the ‘Superman suit’ look like? Now we have our first real look.  I’d say Cavill looks plenty steely.

Snyder is definitely getting high marks for casting. Just days ago we heard about Laurence Fishburne signing on to play the editor of The Daily Planet, Perry White. Not a choice anyone would have anticipated, but inspired nonetheless.  He joins Michael Shannon as General Zod  (Shannon is making the most of his post-Oscar nomination-bump. Aside from his role as the conflicted and possibly twisted G-Man Nelson Van Alden in “Boardwalk Empire”, Shannon has upcoming roles in Machine Gun PreacherTake Shelter , both scheduled for TIFF, James Franco’s directorial debut, The Broken Tower and the title role in next year’s The Iceman), along with Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Julia Ormond and Christopher Meloni.

Superman: Man of Steel flies into theaters June 14, 2013…yes that’s right, 2013.

A NEW Trailer for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy!

A NEW Trailer for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier,Spy!

“I need you to do something for me. You have to assume they’re watching you… ”

Holy Schnikey! I’m glad I got out of bed this morning! There’s a new trailer for Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and not only is this one much longer, we get to see ALL of the major players, including more Colin Firth, more Mark Strong, more Tom Hardy ( a lot more – obviously I’m not the only one with a Hardy-fetish. He even gets third billing behind Oldman and alongside Firth), more Benedict Cumberbatch and our first peek at Ciaran Hinds. I have already watched it four times.

According to Cinema Blend, the score for the trailer comes from this summer’s X-Men: First Class. I guess they wanted something with some ominous bass that would give it gravity. If this isn’t your cuppa, the trailer won’t change your mind. For those of us already looking forward to the film, the trailer just piles on the excitement that’s been building for months.  The film follows George Smiley, semi-retired spook, who is asked to uncover a Soviet agent within MI6′s echelons. Just from what I’ve seen they seem to have captured Cold War paranoia along with the look of 60′s London.

Also starring every Brit character actor of a certain age, among them,  Toby Jones, John Hurt, Stephen Graham, Stephen Rea, Simon McBurney and Roger Lloyd-Pack, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy  heads to Venice at the end of the month where it will be in competition alongside the likes of George Clooney’s The Ides of March and Roman Polanski’s Carnage. It’s not scheduled for Toronto, however.

“How do you find an enemy who is hidden right before your eyes?”

Video: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy: Exclusive Movie Trailer

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy opens in the UK on 16 September but not until November 18 in the US  & Canada.

Robert Pattinson in Bel Ami Trailer!

Robert Pattinson in Bel Ami Trailer!

I had heard about Bel Ami while it was being filmed last year simply because Robert Pattinson can’t even go to Budapest to make a movie without hordes of paps following in his wake. Since I have never gotten the Pattinson appeal and am not a fan *gasp! quelle horreur!* of the Twilight series, beyond that, it didn’t register.

Count this trailer as one happy surprise. Based on a short story by Guy de Maupassant, Bel Ami is the story of a young man’s rise to power in Paris via his manipulation of the city’s most influential and wealthy women. While a great deal of the film’s success would hinge on Pattinson’s sex appeal, it appears he can act! (I didn’t see Water for Elephants although it’s on my VOD list) I am also very excited to see Kristin Scott Thomas getting some play. She’s one of my favorite actresses but it’s wonderful to see a woman of a ‘certain age’ being treated as a sexual being. Speaking of which Uma Thurman, still gorgeous, is having a great year in that regard. She just got to play the ‘older woman’ opposite the delicious Lee Pace and Michael Angarano in Ceremony and got to chase after Gerard Butler in Playing the Field due out next spring. (BTW, she’s also in Movie 43 with Butler and half of Hollywood.)

The cast also includes Christina Ricci who looks as light and fragile as a porcelain doll, Holliday Grainger (Luticia Borge in “The Borges”), Philip Glennister and Colm Meaney.

I’m not exactly sure, what, if any, the release dates are. There’s currently nothing listed on imdb and apparently it was originally scheduled to be released May 12 of this year. I’ve also read October 19 and a vague “Christmas time”. This usually does not bode well, but given the current climate and distributors being even more cautious, trying to find the magic formula for just the right time to release a film in order to ensure success, it’s no longer the exception to see a film slated and re-slated before finally making it to theaters. I’m going to keep an eye on this one though.

We Have Still More Images from Warrior!

We Have Still More Images from Warrior!

Lionsgate is being very very good to me…US! I mean us. We have even more images from Gavin O’Connor’s Warrior with Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton to share with you.

I hope no one’s tired of seeing them. I intend to talk up this movie until I convince each and every one of you to see it. No, I’m not being paid by the producers. I just think it should be seen. It’s a relatively “small” movie and given that it’s being released in the midst of the Fall movie crush, I just don’t want it to be overlooked.

As I wrote in an earlier post, Warrior ”although set against the backdrop of  MMA fighting, is about family and all that that entails and all of the permutations. Family in all its goodness and its ugliness, including the horrors that we put each other through, the lengths we’re willing to go for one another. It’s about forgiveness and redemption and the fact that at the end of the day, when everything else falls away, family is what we’re left with.”

Okay, enough shilling, let’s get to the good stuff. Who doesn’t want to see Tom Hardy or Joel Edgerton shirtless? No one, that’s who! Am I right? Anyway, we do get a better look at Nick Nolte as Paddy Conlan and in one shot we get a glimpse of Tom Hardy’s stunt double.

I’m sure there will be more to come ahead of the October 6 US release date. You know you’ll be able to find it here.

Britney Spears Gives Boyfriend Jason Trawick Lap Dance on Stage (VIDEO)

Britney Spears Gives Boyfriend Jason Trawick a Lap Dance on Stage (VIDEO)

Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale touched down in New York last night where she treated boyfriend Jason Trawick to a lap dance.

Britney handcuffed Jason to a chair, placed a boa around his neck and proceeded to dance for him, although she was mostly behind him.

I loved when she wrapped her legs around his neck (from behind) and he went to playfully bite her leg. Although she isn’t really getting down and dirty with him, the smiles on their faces show such great affection between these two.

If I had Jason Statham (my pretend boyfriend) on stage I would be flinging my undies out into the audience or placing them on his head. Depending on the mood of course. Enjoy the video.
