We have new hi-res images to share from Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot,  The Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. You may think you’ve seen some of these before, but you haven’t seen them like this, all cleaned up and so big!

Before this was confirmed as a reboot of the Spider-Man series, Sam Raimi, director of those three films was going to direct a fourth installment with John Malkovich set to portray villain Adrian Toomes/”The Vulture”, while Anne Hathaway was reportedly cast as Felicia Hardy. Her character would have deviated from the comic book, as she would have been the Vulture’s daughter and would become “The Vulturess” rather than the “Black Cat”. When Raimi decided not to make Spider-Man 4, Hathaway was, of course, cast in another comic book film, The Dark Knight Rises, as “Catwoman”.

With a screenplay co-written by Alvin Sargeant (who wrote Spiderman 2 & 3) and Steve Kloves (the man responsible for the scripts for all 8 Harry Potter films), The Amazing Spider-Man has a cast that includes Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, C. Thomas Howell, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Annie Parisse and Meagan Good. Stan Lee makes a cameo as, who else, “Stan the Man”.

I’m sure we’ll have much more (maybe tomorrow, maybe next month) on The Amazing Spider-Man before it opens worldwide on July 3, 2012.

Former Lindsay Lohan girlfriend Sam Ronson 33, was arrested for DUI yesterday morning on the outskirts of Bakersfield, California.

Sam had been the D.J. at the Palazzo hotel in Las Vegas the night before and had been making her way home when she was pulled over initially for speeding.

She didn’t do so well on the field sobriety test and was taken in where she blew over the legal limit. She’s listed as being 5’7″ and weighing 102 pounds. Bitch.

Jennifer Lopez 42, and Marc Anthony 42, announced their split in July much to the surprise of their fans. And now Jennifer is opening up and revealing ‘why’ she left Marc Anthony in the September issue of Vanity Fair. And it has to do with self-love and self-respect:

It’s not that I didn’t love myself before,” Lopez, 42. “Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself – if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me.”  “I love myself enough to walk away from that now.”

I give the girl props for doing that. Life is way too short to be surrounded by people who aren’t doing right by you. It’s a tough decision to make sometimes but it’s never the wrong decision.

Despite her much-publicized love life (P. Diddy, Ben Affleck) this split hasn’t jaded her when it comes to love:

“Sometimes it doesn’t work – and that’s sad. But I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love. “It’s still my biggest dream. I am positive—determined to move forward with my life, bring up my babies, and do the best job I can as a mother, entertainer, and person. I now look forward to new challenges. I feel strong.”

She takes the high road and only has nice things to say about Skeletor (and he’s probably not worth it):

 ”I will always respect Marc as a singer and performer,” “He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children.”

Translation: He wasn’t worthy, I woke up and that little stick of a man will never tap my fine booty again.

The September issue of Vanity Fair hits newsstands in New York and L.A. on Wednesday, August 3 and nationally and on the iPad on Tuesday, August 9.

Madonna’s second feature behind the camera, after 2008′s Filth and Wisdom, is  W.E. The title refers to the first initial of Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough) and King Edward VIII (James Darcy in a role originally meant for Ewan MacGregor who had to drop out due to scheduling), as well as Wally (Abbie Cornish) and Evgeni (Oscar Isaac). The story of the two couples is told in Madge’s romantic drama that focuses on the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson and a contemporary romance between a married woman and a Russian security guard.

Picked up for distribution by The Weinstein Company, reason enough to make me curious, W.E. is slated to play both the Venice and the Toronto International Film Festivals. The official TIFF synopsis: “a woman in 1998…is infatuated with the 1930s marriage of King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson. Spanning six decades, W.E. gracefully weaves the past and present into two parallel love stories.”

The cast also includes James Fox, David Harbour, Ronan Vibert and Natalie Dormer. I have to say, Andrea Riseborough (“The Devil’s Whore”,Never Let Me Go, Welcome to the Punch) looks uncannily like Wallis Simpson. I’m such an Angophile, there’s no way I’ll miss this one. It opens in the heart of awards season on December 9.

The Kings of Leon are having major issues within the band with the latest being that they have cancelled their ENTIRE U.S. tour. A rep for the band released a statement:

 ”We are so sorry to say Kings of Leon are canceling their entire US tour due to Caleb Followill suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion.”

“The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take this break.  Unfortunately, the US dates cannot be rescheduled due to the band’s international tour schedule.”

You may have heard about the fiasco last week when Caleb Followill walked off of the stage at the Dallas concert causing his brothers ( Nathan Followill, and Jared Followill and cousin Matthew Followill) to be extremely embarrassed and apologetic. Apparently Caleb told the crowd:

“going to go backstage for a second, going to vomit, going to drink a beer, and going to come back out and play three more songs.”

Yeah, he didn’t come back. Watch the video below of the brothers apologizing on his behalf (NSFW). You’ll hear Jared (who is really quite dreamy) say to the fans: “hate Caleb, not us” and then goes on to say about his BROTHER that he “f- hates Caleb.” :

Clearly there are issues that are causing a rift in the band. They also took to their Twitter the next day continuing with the apologies and of course now the cancellation of the U.S. tour.
