Dreamworks has dropped four new posters, featuring the “star” robots from their new movie, Real Steel which is directed by Shawn Levy and stars Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie, Kevin Durand and Hope Davis. Apparently they are meant for bus shelters. I’m not kidding!

The official synopsis calls this “A future-set story where robot boxing is a popular sport and centered on a struggling promoter (Jackman) who thinks he’s found a champion in a discarded robot. During his hopeful rise to the top, he also discovers he has an 11-year-old son who wants to know his father.” *sniff*

Okay, okay enough snark. Real Steel does have a few things going for it, namely Hugh Jackman and these robots. The plot sounds unintentionally hilarious, but with robots with names like Atom, Midas, Ambush and Noisy Boy, (which sound like they came from Philip K. Dick by way of J.R. Ward), it could actually be a lot of fun. I’ll resist the urge to see it in IMAX though. Who wants to see a 12′ robot fist flying at their face?

Real Steel opens October 7 in the US and Canada and 14 October in the UK.
