The auction of Elizabeth Taylor's jewels, art, and haute couture is quickly approaching (December) but in the meantime the collection is being displayed in various cities around the world for the public to view before they are purchased by some very wealthy people.

The gems are a fascinating collection with brooches worth as much as $600,000. The exhibition is currently on view In London and includes what looks to be the Krupp diamond (33.91 karats) that was given to her by Richard Burton or is that the 69.42 karat ring  that he gave her?

The entire collection is estimated to be worth over $150,000,000 with part of the proceeds going to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation for which she tirelessly worked.

Betty White does a great job! And to think her career is burning hot and on January 17  this lovely lady turns 90 years young!!! And she is so in demand she can barely keep up to it all. Love me some Betty White.

Not too long ago we showed you the first poster for Katherine Heigl in the big screen version of Janet Evanovich's first book in the Stephanie Plum series, One For the Money. Well, they must finally be serious about releasing the thing (after two rescheduled dates) because now we have a trailer. The film is directed by Julie Ann Robinson whose feature debut was The Last Song with Miley Cyrus. She's also a veteran of numerous "Grey's Anatomy" episodes (as well as a lot of other tv) and pairs Heigl with Jason O'Mara, an Irish actor who's become a real presence on American tv, but I'm glad he's getting some film work. (Even if I'm not sure about this particular film.)

Unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum lands a job at her cousin's bail-bond business, where her first assignment puts her on the trail of a wanted local cop from her romantic past. Something about this trailer makes me hope they continue with the other books because I have a feeling this is going to feel very much like an episode in the series.

Heigl's got a lot of people in her corner on this. In addition to director Robinson, the script was cowritten by Kristen Smith and Karen McCullah Lutz (among others), cowriters of another Heigl vehicle, The Ugly Truth. Producers  Gary Lucchesi and Tom Robinson worked on that film as well. (There are a few other producers on this one, among them Heigl herself.) I'm not a Heigl-hater and I really do hope she finds something that makes good use of her talents. I'm just not convinced this is it. The rest of the cast of One For the Money includes Debbie Reynolds as Stephanie's grandmother, Sherri Shepherd and Daniel Sunjata ("Rescue Me", "Grey's Anatomy") and will finally open January 27, 2012.

The first teaser for Joe Carnahan's thriller, The Grey, has hit the web thanks to Yahoo!Movies and I for one am excited. (Gerard Butler's name was at one time bandied about in connection with this, so it's been on my radar.) Whether you love Carnahan's films (The A-Team,Narc, Smokin' Aces - he also wrote Pride and Glory, which I loved) or hate them, he knows how to do action and judging by what we see here, there will be plenty of action. The trailer seems to focus on Liam Neeson vs wolves (I'm assuming they are the 'grey' of the title) and the elements. Personally, I'm enjoying Neeson's recent incarnation as a middle-aged action hero. I never quite understand the rationale behind a "serious" actor going down this path, but if he's having fun, I'll go along for the ride.

Official synopsis: A group of oil-rig roughnecks are left stranded on the sub-arctic tundra after their plane experiences a complete mechanical failure and crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. The survivors, battling mortal injuries, biting cold and ravenous hunger, are relentlessly hunted and pursued by a vicious pack of rogue wolves.

The Grey also stars James Badge Dale, Dallas Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo (who is getting a lot of play since Warrior! Good for him!), and Nonso Anonzie (Conan the Barbarian, Brighton Rock, Rocknrolla - love him!) It opens in theaters January 27, 2012 in the US and March 1 in Germany. No other dates are known at this time. I'm sure we'll have more on this one.

Justin Bieber is just 17 years old but he is such a little romantic dude. It seems that he and girlfriend Selena Gomez 19, had tickets to see Demi Lovato at the Nokia Center in Los Angeles last night and after the concert was over, Justin took Selena underground to the Staples Center where he had arranged to have the entire Staples Center ALL TO THEMSELVES. Why you ask? So they could watch The Titanic together.

Seriously give this little man props for being so romantic. And if you think it's because he's filthy rich, think again. This little romantic gesture cost the Biebs NOTHING. Because he had sold the place out for 3 days in a row, and nothing was happening in there anyway, they let him do this for FREE!

Isn't that the sweetest thing? Have you seen The Titanic? I cried like a baby. 

If you didn't like Justin Bieber before this, you probably really hate him now, ha! Not many guys 17 or even twice that age can top that surprise.

Last week we showed you a few pics of Ryan Gosling in period garb for the new crime drama The Gangster Squad currently filming in Los Angeles. Today we have a few of Gosling with costar Emma Stone (and an adorable bulldog) as well as Josh Brolin looking all studly in his gabardine suit and fedora. And look…he has a gun!

The Gangster Squad is  based on the novel "Tales of the Gangster Squad" by Paul Lieberman and is being directed by Ruben Fleischer of Zombieland and 30 Minutes or Less fame. It's a chronicle of the LAPD's fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s.  it sounds right up my alley, especially since it sounds like something one of my favorite crime writers James Ellroy (The Black Dahlia, LA Confidential) would have written.

In addtion to Gosling, Stone and Brolin, the film boasts Nick Nolte, Giovanni Ribisi, Mireille Enos, Michael Pena, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo (who is getting a lot of post-Warrior action), Robert Patrick and Holt McCallany. That's quite a cast. I'm really looking forward to this. Unfortunately, it's not due out until 2013 (?!). I'm sure we'll have much more to come.
