New Clip and Images for Dream House!

New Images for Dream House!

Here are some eerie new images from Jim Sheridan's Dream House. I'm really looking forward to this. I love a good psychological thriller and this one seems to bear comparison with Shutter Island. I'm also a fan of the Irish director Jim Sheridan's films (In AmericaMy Left FootIn the Name of the Father) so, I have to believe there's more here than meets the eye. A director of his caliber doesn't get actors of the caliber of Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz to sign up for schlock.  Of course, no matter how good or bad it is, people are going to go see it since it will forever be known as the movie on which newlyweds Craig and Weisz fell in love.  The pics below don't hint at any of that, of course, but they do bring some creepy…and the director…and Naomi Watts, who always looks good.

The official synopsis from Universal: "Some say that all houses have memories. For one man, his home is the place he would kill to forget. A family unknowingly moves into a home where several grisly murders were committed…only to find themselves the killer's next target. Successful publisher Will Atenton (Craig) quit a job in New York City to relocate his wife, Libby (Weisz), and two girls to a quaint New England town. But as they settle into their new life, they discover their perfect home was the murder scene of a mother and her children. And the entire city believes it was at the hands of the husband who survived. When Will investigates the tragedy, his only lead comes from Ann Paterson (Watts), a neighbor who was close to the family that died. As Will and Ann piece together the disturbing puzzle, they discover that the story of the last man to leave Will's dream house will be just as horrifying to the one who came next."

Craig, Weisz and Watts star alongside Marton Csokas (The DebtTimelineAsylum *thud*) and Jane Alexander. Dream House opens in theaters September 30.

Universal has just released the first clip. Enjoy, as Libby (Weisz) starts to get creeped out in her new home:

New Image from John Carter!

New Image from John Carter!

While I will forever refer to Disney's John Carter as John Carter of Mars, after the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel upon which it's based, I have to say I'm excited to see Andrew Stanton's big screen version which, after winning an Academy Award for Wall-E, is his live-action debut. It's also the first live-action film for Pixar. It's been a while since we've had anything on this film. The image released today via their Facebook page shows a Helium Airship that matches the previously released concept art. Pretty cool. (Another cool thing, the Stanton cowrote the screenplay with novelist Michael Chabon.)

Starring Taylor Kitsch in the title role, (and I have no idea if he'll satisfy the ERB fans, but he's kinda hot) it's the story of a war-weary, former military captain, who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the wildly diverse planet whose main inhabitants are 12-foot tall green barbarians, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe),  and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

In addition to Kitsch, Dafoe and Collins, John Carter also stars Samantha Morton, Ciaran Hinds (woot!), Dominic West (woot!), James Purefoy (woot, woot!),  Mark Strong (triple woot!), Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston and Thomas Hayden Church. John Carter is scheduled for theatrical release on March 9th, 2012 just about everywhere.
