Madonna Is An Ingrate (VIDEO)

Madonna Is An Ingrate (VIDEO)

Madonna was at the Venice Film Festival where her film W.E. was flambayed quite nicely by critics and although that would have had most people eating a bit of humble pie, this is Madonna we’re talking about.

When some fan handed her a bouquet of hydrangeas she smiled thanking the person before giving a ‘look’ to the person to her left and under her breath saying:

I absolutely loathe hydrangeas. He obviously doesn’t know that.

No sh*t he doesn’t know that. Or maybe he does and it’s payback for W.E.? Either way show some class and don’t be a nasty ingrate. You know I really thought Madonna had changed with all her spirituality and Kabbalah stuff, but she really is still just a bitch.

Three Musketeers as Bodice Ripping Porn!

Three Musketeers as Bodice Ripping Porn!

Seriously! Will you look at that new poster for Paul W. S. Anderson’s high-concept reimagining of Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers? It looks like the cover of a straight-to-dvd, by way of Skinamax soft-core porno film. And considering that Logan Lerman looks like a smooth-skinned adolescent girl, I’m not sure exactly what kind of soft core porn we’re talking about here.

I’m also really not sure if they want me to see this movie or not. I keep vacillating on the whole thing. The last time they put out some posters I was starting to tip toward buying a ticket. Now I’m once again wondering what it is they’re trying to sell me. Who am I kidding? Summit Entertainment will probably win because I will simply have to see what kind of a train wreck they’ve created here. It’s supposed to be about “hot-headed” D’Artagnon (Lerman) along with three former legendary but now down on their luck Musketeers who unite and defeat a beautiful double agent (Milla Jovovich)and her villainous employer from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war.

Below is a 2nd version of the poster at the top. It features more of the cast but I think it’s the look on Milla Jovovich’s face and the tilt of her head that sends it into Harlequin romance territory. In any case, The Three Musketeers in 3D is out.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Remember Russell Armstrong

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Remember Russell Armstrong

Last night season 2 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills aired and prior to the actual show, a 4 minute segment featured the Housewives (except for Taylor Armstrong) and their husbands talking about the suicide of Russell Armstrong and how they felt about it including, of course, sadness, guilt, etc. It was very poignant and, I think, in good taste. To start season 2 without any mention of it made zero sense and they way in which Bravo handled it was quite tasteful (I don’t know about you but the clip made me cry).

Did you watch the season premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills last night? A dinner party was involved and you would think it could have at least been all about the food and company but the discussion got on to therapy, where Taylor Armstrong admitted:

“We’re knee-deep into so much psycho-therapy that I’m sick of myself.”

Then Lisa Vanderpump’s husband revealed his thoughts on marital therapy:

“If I had to go to see a therapist to make my marriage better, I would feel weak.”

This of course upset Taylor who, at the time, was dealing with a lot (this was shot before her husband’s suicide) and she felt insulted by the remark.

Judging by the premiere for next week and upcoming episodes this season is going to be even more explosive than the first season and I didn’t even think that was possible.

Did you watch last night? Did you like? What are your thoughts?

New Trailer and Poster for Machine Gun Preacher!

New Trailer and Poster for Machine Gun Preacher!

Here’s a newer look at the trailer for Marc Forster’s Machine Gun Preacher. It comes from Virgin Produces and is a shorter version of the original released by Relativity last month. It’s probably designed as a television spot since it’s the right length. In any case, I’m bringing it to you here because I want to keep thumping the tub for this movie.

Butler spoke to the LA Times recently about what filming Machine Gun Preacher meant to him:

“I feel every emotion. I haven’t talked much about this movie in a while, and I did the other day, and I just started crying. I cried for about five minutes. Preacher forced Butler to examine his own demons as he embodied the violent, rageful Childers, a rural Pennsylvania native who transformed his drug-riddled, crime-filled life after finding God. Childers’ born-again experience led him to becoming a preacher in his hometown before traveling to Africa, where he came upon hundreds of children orphaned at the hands of the Lord’s Resistance Army, which was staging a violent campaign throughout Uganda, Sudan and the Congo. The atrocities propelled Childers to found an orphanage in Sudan in 1998 that now houses more than 200 children and feeds more than 1,000.  “A lot of the feelings I felt with Sam, the violence and the craziness, being out of control and not knowing how to live your life, I had all that,” says Butler, who remade himself as an actor after his unhappiness with his first career as a lawyer led him to use alcohol and drugs. “Did I go around stabbing people and shooting people? No. Did I end up in Africa building an orphanage? No. But I did have a massive transformation in my life where I sorted everything out.”

Machine Gun Preacher will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival then opens in a limited release on September 23. It begins a wider platform release on September 30.

Britney Spears Gets Sultry For Glamour Magazine

Britney Spears Gets Sultry For Glamour Magazine

She’s 3 months away from turning 30, and while some people have a difficult time with it, Britney Spears feels quite the opposite, and judging by her cover and inside photos for October’s Glamour Magazine she has years to go before she worries about losing the sexy. She tells the magazine what turning 30 means to her:

‘I think the older you get, the wiser you get,’  ’I can’t wait. I’m really excited and definitely gonna celebrate and do something spectacular.  ’I’m gonna be in South America so I’ll have to do something pretty fun.

To think she was only 17 when she became a sensation. Our Britney Spears is turning the big 3-0. She should be excited because getting older really is better. Once you get pass the aches, pains, lines, wrinkles, sagging, stretch marks, weight gain, grey hair and all the other things it’s FABULOUS. Ha! I’m totally joking, it really does rock. You’re only as old as you feel.

What do you think of the photos from the magazine?

Trailer for Janie Jones with Abigail Breslin!

Trailer for Janie Jones with Abigail Breslin!

Here’s a first trailer for David M. Rosenthal’s Janie Jones. It’s the story of a young girl who has been abandoned by her former-groupie, currently junkie mother after first informing a fading rock star that she is his daughter. Keeping in mind there’s nothing new under the sun (this does sound like last year’s Somewhere) and it’s all about the delivery, I have high hopes for this.

Janie Jones is both the title of the movie, which was an official selection of TIFF 2010, as well as the name of the girl, played by Abigail Breslin. (As well as a song by the Clash).  I loved Breslin in Little Miss Sunshine, a role for which she was nominated for an Academy Award, and of course I thought she was terrific in Nim’s Island with Gerard Butler and Jodie Foster. I lost track of her for a bit and although this film was made a couple of years ago, I can’t believe how grown up she is. Abigail Breslin is part of a group of very talented young female actresses, beginning with Dakota Fanning and continuing to her sister Elle, along with Chloe Grace Moretz, who, thankfully, seem to be following in the aforementioned Jodie Foster’s footsteps rather than those of Lindsey Lohan.

Janie’s father is played by Alessandro Nivola. I first noticed him in the big budget Face/Off with Nicholas Cage and John Travolta, but he’s got indie-cred up the wazoo (by association as well as by choice, he’s married to the Queen of the Indies, Emily Mortimer). He’s a great actor and it’s always a pleasure when he turns up, usually unexpectedly, in something.

The official synopsis: Rocker Ethan Brand (Nivola) and his band, the Ethan Brand Experience, are on the comeback trail when a former flame (Elisabeth Shue) drops a bomb in his lap—their 13-year-old daughter, Janie Jones (Breslin). Ethan refuses to believe Janie is his kid, but when her mom suddenly leaves for rehab, the child has no place to go but with the band. With no inclination toward fatherhood Ethan continues his hard-living ways, leaving Janie to fend for herself in the dive bars and sleazy motels along the way. As his drug- and booze-fueled antics take their toll on and off stage, the band deserts him one by one, until he and Janie are left alone. Desperate to finish the tour and revive his career, Ethan stays on the road as a solo act with Janie in tow. As Ethan’s self-destructive spiral threatens to derail his comeback, Janie uses her own surprising musical talents to help guide him down the rocky road to redemption.

Janie Jones opens in theaters in the US on October 28 and star Breslin, Nivola, Shue, Peter Stormare, Joel Moore, Frances Fisher, Brittany Snow and Frank Whalley.
