Monday, September 26 saw the second episode of season 13 of Dancing With The Stars minus Ron Artest or Metta World Peace as he was voted off the dance floor last week.
This week sees partners doing either The Jive or the Quick Step
First up: Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy danced the Jive. Hope's schedule is grueling with both soccer practice and dance rehearsals. I love how they incorporated soccer into their Jive, but I doubt Len is going to like that. They were really off on their timing and Hope seemed to be struggling. I can't imagine how she is handling her schedule and remembering any of it. Kudos to her for that. I'm surprised that Len found it crisp but did point out that they lost their timing. He seemed to like it. Maybe her kissing him at the end did that for him. Scores: 6/7/6 = 19/30.
Kristen Cavallari and Mark Ballas danced the Quick Step. This dance reminds me of an aerobic work out. Kristin channeled her best Marilyn Monroe during this dance. Her and Mark seemed to really be enjoying themselves on the dance floor. His smile was so huge, heh. Whatever he was saying to her seemed to work she really seemed a lot more at ease this week and so elegant. Scores: 8/7/7 = 22/30.
David Arquette and Kym Johnson danced the Jive. Poor David he seemed to be having the most difficult time in rehearsals. It seemed to be killing him. He seemed to do better on the dance floor than he did in rehearsals but he still is a bit stiff, but I think he's adorable and he works really hard and that matters for something right? I really hope he sticks around for next week. Scores: 6/6/6 = 18/30.
Elisabetta Canalis and Val Chmerkovskiy danced the Quick Step. Elisabetta has her work cut out for her this week. She's not very coordinated and Maksim's brother Val is as tough an instructor as Maks. Man you can really tell they are brothers. At first when she stepped on the dance floor I thought oh man here we go again, but I was pleasantly surprised although she still has a long way to go. Forgive me for being the oinker that I am but every time I look at her I think she boned George Clooney. Do I need help maybe? Overall much improved from last week I would say. Scores: 7/7/7 = 21/30.
Robert Kardashian and Cheryl Burke danced the Jive. I kind of feel sorry for him because of the pressure he's under being a Kardashian and all. It's rare that you hear of a guy being self-conscious of his body on TV as the emphasis is usually on women so my heart kind of goes out to him. Momanger Kris Jenner was in the audience and I'm sure he'll get a beating for not doing things right if he doesn't because after all that translates into dollars for momanger. Robert did okay but he needs to keep the tongue in his mouth. You'd think he was hanging around with Miley Cyrus or something. He did way better than last week and I hope for his sake he stays in the competition for another week at least. Scores: 7/7/7 = 21/30.
Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya danced the Quick Step. Ever since his Mick Jagger impression last week, Carson is the one I was looking forward to the most. The guy is a riot. So animated and so much fun. That's what it's all about. Carson is the type of guy that would be so much fun to be around. Based on what we saw in the rehearsal package he improved so much. I really hope he sticks around! Loved the ending with him sprawled out over Anna. Scores: 6/6/6 = 18/30.
Ricki Lake and Derek Hough danced the Jive. She looked a bit terrified in rehearsals this week, but I just love how those two get along. She's another favorite of mine that I hope sticks around. At first I thought that she wasn't moving around enough but I don't know if that was acceptable for her part in the Jive, but the audience LOVED them. Bruno thought her kicks and flicks were done perfectly for the dance. Bruno was a little jealous she got to sit on Derek. She is totally a fan favorite, and we know Derek is purrrrrr. Carrie Ann said it was the best Jive of the night. Scores: 8/7/8 = 23/30.
Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer danced the Quick Step. This is the one dance Chaz feared the most and he had a tough time in rehearsals especially on his knees. I think all things considered Chaz did a good job, but will it be enough to keep him in until next week? Scores: 6/5/6 = 17/30.
Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani danced the Jive. I loved in rehearsals she said 'sorry Jesus I have to curse. That was so funny. Within minutes of that clip, Sorry Jesus was trending on Twitter. She was in first place last week (the first week) and her Jive was pretty damned good. She not only danced well she was totally enjoying herself and into it. She's a pleasure to watch. She's gorgeous. The judges didn't seem to think she did as good as they expected her. Scores: 7/7/7 = 21/30.
Nancy Grace and Tristan McManus danced the Quick Step. Nancy had a difficult time last week but if there is one thing this woman is, it's competitive. She's not the type that allows herself to fail but is having a difficult time on the dance floor and really shut down in rehearsals. Even though she had a smile on her face it seemed like she was counting her steps. It didn't seem to flow to me. Len was pretty happy with her dance and that brought tears to her eyes. Scores: 6/8/7 – 21/30.
J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff danced the Jive. J.R. is a heavy favorite in this competition and with such a positive attitude he is a high achiever. He's SO energetic in his dances. His energy never wavered throughout this demanding dance. He's incredible I sincerely hope to see him go to the very end. Scores: 7/7/8 = 22/30.
Tomorrow night on the elimination night we'll see performances by Demi Lovato and The Script. Who do you think will be going home tomorrow night? Will you be watching?
