Rum Laced, Sun Drenched Pics and Clips for The Rum Diary with Johnny Depp!

Here to remind us why Johnny Depp is the most popular actor in the world, The Rum Diary is set to hit theaters on October 28 after a two year wait. In the meantime, Depp gave us the weakest of the Pirates of the Caribbean flicks, On Stranger Tides, as well as the overpriced, overhyped travelog known as The Tourist (which wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as it should have been.) I've seen the trailer for Rum Diary on the big screen a few times now and all I can say is that Depp and Hunter S. Thompson are a very good match indeed.
Here Depp is playing a journalist named Paul Kemp, a freelance journalist who finds himself drawn to the Caribbean at a critical turning point in his life and lands at a rundown newspaper edited by bewigged Richard Jenkins. While there he meets the beautiful Chenault (Amber Heard) who is engaged to Aaron Eckhart's Sanderson, but he's once again really a stand-in for Thompson himself (as all of Thompson's "fictional" protagonists were and Depp was when he appeared in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas). There's no Benicio del Toro as Thompson's Samoan attorney, instead we get Michael Rispoli and Giovanni Ribisi.
The scenary's great, Depp is charming, Heard is beautiful (in a 1960's Barbie kind of way), Eckhardt is suavely handsome (and has a cool car) and I think this looks like as much fun as a frosty umbrella drink sipped on a sandy beach! Enjoy this punchbowl full of new pics and a couple of clips.
