Conan O’Brien Sells ‘Fat Chance’ Comedy To TBS

Conan O'Brien Sells 'Fat Chance' Comedy To TBS

That funny, tall pasty ginger we love so dearly, Conan O'Brien, has sold a comedy project called Fat Chance to TBS. The project being developed by Conan O'Brien's company Conaco and Warner Horizon Television is a half-hour sitcom about two best friends whose lives are impacted when a beautiful woman (Alex) enters it.

One friend, Chance Hubbard is overweight while his BFF, Rollie is apparently 'incredibly good-looking'. There is no word as of yet who the actors are playing the characters but if Conan is behind this it's worth seeing in my books.

The show is being executive produced by Jeff Ross (of Conan fame) and David Kissinger who you may know from Eagleheart, Andy Barker and P.I.

Three New Clips for Detachment with Adrien Brody!

Three New Clips for Detachment with Adrien Brody!

Tony Kaye's Detachment is coming soon to theaters as well as VOD and DVD. Woot! I admittedly have an Adrian Brody 'jones', so I have been awaiting some word on this since it played the Tribeca Film Festival last Spring. Both star and director (whose American History Xreinvented Edward Norton and is a modern classic) got very good notices.

Synopsis: Detachment is a chronicle of three weeks in the lives of several high school teachers, administrators and students through the eyes of a substitute teacher named Henry Barthes (Adrian Brody). Henry roams from school to school, imparting modes of knowledge, but never staying long enough to form any semblance of sentient attachment. A perfect profession for one seeking to hide out in the open. One day Henry arrives at his next assignment. Upon his entry into this particular school, a secret world of emotion is awakened within him by three women. A girl named Meredith in his first period, a fellow teacher Ms. Madison (Christina Hendricks), and a street hooker named Erica, whom Henry has personally granted brief shelter from the streets. Each one of these women, like Henry, are in a life and death struggle to find beauty in a seemingly vicious and loveless world.

Take a look at these clips. You won't be able to look away. Brody, especially is extremely compelling.

This first one is NSFW due to some language.

This one is heart breaking and we don't even know what the relationships really are:

Detachment also stars Bryan Cranston (another great actor having a great year), James Caan, Lucy Liu, Blythe Danner, Maria Gay Harden, William Petersen, Tim Blake Nelson and Doug E. Doug.

Teasing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D

Teasing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D

This is your first look at Leatherface for a new generation (even if it is just his arm) on the teaser poster for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, coming to a theater near you in time for Halloween 2012, next October 5. Yes folks, this movie not only has a poster and a release date, but it's going to open wide. (I guess we get the movies we deserve.)

The 'film' is directed by John Luessenhop whose last film was the better than expected Takers, although The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D will suffer from a complete lack of Idris Elba. Rather than another remake, this one is a sequel to Tobe Hooper's 1973 'gore classic' and continues the escapades of Leatherface several decades later, while ignoring all of the sequels and remakes and anything that happened in between. The cast includes horror veteran Bill Moseley, Trey Songz and Gunnar Hansen, the original Leatherface.

My first thought? "Oh hell no!" I'm sincerely hoping this is the death knell for the whole 3D fad, but I doubt it.

First Poster for The Grey with Liam Neeson!

First Poster for The Grey with Liam Neeson!

Wow! Will ya look at that face? There's no way I'd mess with that guy, even if I were an Alaskan Timber Wolf (the "Grey" of the title)!

We've seen a teaser trailer and a few images for Joe Carnahan's thriller, The Grey, and now we have a great first poster.
No matter what you think of Carnahan's other films (The A-TeamNarcSmokin' Aces - he also wrote Pride and Glory, which I loved), you have to give it to him, he knows how to do action and I'm willing to bet there will be plenty of action. I've seen the trailer on the big screen several times this summer and it does seem to focus on Neeson vs wolves and the elements.

Official synopsis: A group of oil-rig roughnecks are left stranded on the sub-arctic tundra after their plane experiences a complete mechanical failure and crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. The survivors, battling mortal injuries, biting cold and ravenous hunger, are relentlessly hunted and pursued by a vicious pack of rogue wolves.

Personally, I'm enjoying Neeson's recent incarnation as a middle-aged action hero. In addition to The Grey, next year he'll be seen in Battleship! and he's already signed on for Taken 2The Grey also stars James Badge Dale, Dallas Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo and Nonso Anonzie. It opens in theaters January 27, 2012 in the US and Canada.

See Shannen Doherty’s BEAUTIFUL Wedding Dress

See Shannen Doherty's BEAUTIFUL Wedding Dress

Shannen Doherty looked absolutely breathtakingly beautiful on her wedding day in her Monique Lhuillier wedding gown. Even she couldn't deny its beauty:

"There was no question. The moment I saw it, I knew it was my dress," Doherty says of her first Monique Lhuillier gown, which featured a sweetheart bodice and a garnet sash. "I felt like a fairytale princess."

Shannen also jumped on this latest celebrity trend of having three wedding dresses during her wedding (think Kim Kardashian and Shannon Tweed Simmons). Her second Lhuillier gown: "was blush with lots and lots of tulle" and the third dress (knee-length) was probably the most sentimental:

"I took the lace from my mom's wedding gown, designed a dress and had it made,"  "It was my get-down and be-sexy bridal dress!"

The groom, Kurt Iswarienko also changed each time Shannen did. But not his suit, just his tie which was all his own idea. Actually that's pretty cute if you ask me.

Trailer for London Boulevard with Colin Farrell!

Trailer for London Boulevard with Colin Farrell!

London Boulevard is the directorial debut of screenwriter William Monahan (The Departed) and based on a novel by Ken Bruen. It's the story of a man newly released from prison (Colin Farrell) who falls in love with a reclusive young movie star (Keira Knightley) and finds himself in a duel with a vicious gangster (the incomparable Ray Winstone). Aside from the fact that Knightley's character was written as an older woman, they did a pretty good job of adapting the book. Take a look.

If you like Brit gangster flicks, and I love them, then you'll enjoy this. It's had a rough time getting US distribution but IFC Films has finally picked it up. It's actually playing on VOD right now (which is where I saw it last weekend. I've been waiting for this for ages!), but it will get a theatrical release starting November 11. London Boulevard also stars Eddie Marsan, Ben Chaplin and Anna Friel.
