We have a bunch of new posters to share, starting with the Awakening, that old school ghost story we told you about some weeks back with Dominic West and Rebecca Hall (and not Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe. That's another old school ghost story, The Woman in Black.)
This one is set in 1921 and an England that is overwhelmed by the loss and grief of World War I. Hoax exposer Florence Cathcart (Hall) visits a boarding school to explain sightings of a child ghost. Lots of spooky doings at a spooky boarding school on the spooky mist-filled moors! Cool! The Awakening opens in the UK 11-11-11. No word yet on these shores.

The new poster for New Year's Eve is all gold and shiny just like the New Year itself (and as is befitting a movie with that many shiny, happy people all assembled in place.) I don't expect much but Garry Marshall will probably eke a few memorable moments. New Year's Eve opens everywhere December 9.

On the new poster for Puss in Boots, the eponymous feline appears to be doing the 'stray cat strut'. He is definitely all that and a bag of chips. I truly can't wait to see this and I won't even feel it necessary to borrow a child. Puss in Boots opens in the US and Canada on October 28 and 9 December in the UK. (Up against New Year's Eve! I know which one I'd pick.)

Frankly, I have no hopes for The Three Stooges at all. I'll admit to some vague curiosity about what the actors chosen to play Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos), Larry (Sean Hayes) and Curly (Will Sasso) look like. Apparently that's what is counting on and appears to be trying to keep them under wraps for a little while longer, since the first poster only offers us silhouettes. We do have a glimpse of the tops of their heads in this slice. Rhetorical question: Is it necessary for Sophia Vergara and Jane Lynch to waste all of the good-will generated by their respective tv shows by appearing in whatever crap movie is offered to them? Christopher Guest, find something new for Jane stat! The Three Stooges opens April 4.

This new poster for Martin Scorsese's Hugo, features Asa Butterfield, the young actor who plays the title character. It definitely retains the sense of wonder and magic that we've come to associate with this film, just judging by the trailer and pics we've seen so far. Hugo opens for the holidays on November 23 in the US & Canada and 2 December in the UK.

Here's a poster of Mark Wahlberg imitating a monkey…no really, he's just showing you the bazillion dollars strapped to his washboard abs in order to give you a clue about the question on this poster for Contraband. About a security guard with financial troubles who considers a return to his smuggling ways when an associate offers a potentially lucrative opportunity, Contraband opens January 13.

And finally, we have a new poster for Arthur Christmas. The second 'holiday' themed movie in today's offerings, but the one that seems to have some actual heart (not to mention the voices of some great actors) going for it. Sony's synopsis: Arthur Christmas reveals the incredible, never-before seen answer to every child's question: 'So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?' The answer: Santa's exhilarating, ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole. But at the center of the film is a story about a family in a state of comic dysfunction and an unlikely hero, Arthur, with an urgent mission that must be completed before Christmas morning dawns. Sounds like something even this cynic might get a kick out of. Arthur Christmas opens 11 November in the UK and November 23 in the US and Canada.
