Time For Another Poster Post!

Time For Another Poster Post!

We'll start with this vertigo inducing poster from Brad Bird's Mission:  Impossible – Ghost Protocol starring the ageless Tom Cruise as the human fly there on the side of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world's tallest building. No sir. Not way, not no how, would I be doing that. I can barely look at it. The poster is for the Imax version of the film that will debut December 16, one week ahead of the theatrical version. I don't think I could take it in Imax, but that's just me. I'm a wimp. The rest of the movie does look like good fun and it's got Jeremy Renner, Tom Wilkinson and Simon Pegg along for the ride.

Time For Another Poster Post!

Next up, we finally have a fitting poster for Andrea Arnold's new adaptation of Emily Bronte's classic, Wuthering Heights that we've been telling you about.  (Arnold's last film was Fish Tank with Michael Fassbender and if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.) The poster shows Heathcliffe facing the moors in a driving rain, which is apropos of the tagline "Love is a force of nature". Wuthering Heights played the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals last month and is set for the BFI London Film Festival on October 22 before a November 11 bow in the UK.

Finally, we have five posters for The Hunger Games, each one representing a "District" represented by the games. Lionsgate, who won't be releasing the film until next May, is already putting on the hard sell for this one. (Probably unnecessarily since, like the Harry Potter series,The Hunger Games has a legion of readers anxiously awaiting the film.) There are new Facebook pages with Districts set up for the areas in which the players of The Hunger Games take part. Enjoy!

CONFIRMED: ‘Friday Night Lights’ Movie Is A Go

CONFIRMED: 'Friday Night Lights' Movie Is A Go

If you've never watched Friday Night Lights you can't appreciate how great the news is that a movie is coming out of the hit TV series that got canceled way before its time. The series that ran from 2006 to 2011 was about football in a small Texas town that focused on the lives of the football players, coaches and teachers. It was SO well done and this year picked up 3 much-deserved Emmys. When they announced this series over a little part of me died. Sounds dramatic but it's true. This show really tugged at your heart.

Connie Britton confirmed to US Weekly that a Friday Night Lights movie is happening:

"It's happening for realsies,"  "Pete is totally fired up to do it and I know Jason Katims is talking about writing a script. I think it's really a matter of…getting everyone's busy schedules aligned and making it happen," says Britton. "It kind of feels like there's a lot of commitment to it."

The Pete she refers to is the executive producer of the show Pete Berg and Connie promises to do everything she can "I for one will do my part in trying to push it along,"

I love you Connie! Obviously this is in the very early stages and hopefully all the pieces of the puzzle that need to be put into place can! Did you watch Friday Night Lights?

New Images from Scorcese’s Hugo!

New Images from Scorcese's Hugo!

It's been awhile since we had any news from Martin Scorsese's Hugo Cabret, now simply titled, Hugo. It's usually either feast or famine.  In any case, we're now at the beginning of October, and 'awards-baiting season' (kind of like duck hunting season) has begun, so expect the juicy little tidbits to be served up more freely in the weeks to come.

Set in 1930s Paris, Hugo is based on the novel "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" by Brian Selznick  with a screenplay by John Logan (The Hurt LockerCoriolanus). Hugo (Asa Butterfield) is an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station At the heart of the story is a mystery involving his late father and an 'automaton'.

Hugo has an insane cast including Chloe Moretz, Sir Ben Kingsley, Sasha Baron Cohen, Ray Winstone, Helen McCrory, Michael Stuhlbarg, Emily Mortimer and Christopher Lee. Hugo opens November 23 in the US and Canada and on 2 December in the UK. Check out the cool new images. If someone hadn't told me that was Jude Law (as Hugo's father) with Asa Butterfield, I would never have known that was him. That's Sasha Baron Cohen as the Station Inspector, Chloe Moretz as Isabelle and Sir Ben Kingsley as Papa Georges.

First Look at James McAvoy in Trance!

First Look at James McAvoy in Trance!

Here's your first look at bloody good James McAvoy on the set of Danny Boyle's Trance. It's a thriller centered around a botched art heist that pits two men against one another, one an assistant at an auction house who suffers a blow to the head and wakes up with amnesia, the other a thief, though they both develop unusual relationships with the same woman. McAvoy plays Simon, the only one who knows where the location of a stolen painting and after his continued failure to remember, the gang begins to suspect duplicity on his part and hire a female hypnotist (Rosario Dawson) to get into his brain.

We first told you about Trance some months back when it was rumored that Michael Fassbender would be playing the thief. Well, that fell through and now Fassbender's A Dangerous Method co-star, Vincent Cassel, has signed on. I am more than happy with that substitution, this is a 'type' that Cassel does very well.

After Boyle finishes filming he'll be taking a break to direct the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London before turning to the editing room to cut Trance for a 2013 release.
