Two New Clips for Take Shelter with Michael Shannon!

Two New Clips for Take Shelter with Michael Shannon!

Michael Shannon, about whom there is already Oscar talk, stars in Take Shelter as a man who may or may not be losing his grip on reality. Curtis (Shannon) is a normally reliable husband and father who begins to suffer from terrifying, apocalyptic, nightmares about an impending storm that will doom humanity. He seeks out help, but his paranoia grows and he begins to build a tornado shelter in his backyard in case the inevitable should happen, though his marriage and career begin to fall apart in the process. Is he sheltering his family from the storm or from himself? Is he paranoid or a modern day Noah?

Curtis' wife, Samantha, is played by Jessica Chastain (who while unknown a year ago, has actually been quietly toiling away for the last four years on films that for one reason or another are all coming out now and is my current girl-crush). They costar with Kathy Baker (who is in Machine Gun Preacher with Shannon and Gerard Butler), Shea Whigham (who is in "Boardwalk Empire" with Shannon), Ray McKinnon and Lisa Gay Hamilton.

The first clip is called "Storm"

The second is called "Is Anyone Seeing This?"

Take Shelter opened in New York and LA this past weekend and will slowly expand in the next few weeks (the same as Shannon's other film in theaters now, Machine Gun Preacher - he is fantastic, by the way, in his small role as Donnie, Sam's partner in crime whose own salvation didn't take as well as Sam's did), as awards season goes into full swing.

Full Trailer for Luc Besson’s The Lady!

Gorgeous New Posters and a Teaser for Luc Besson's The Lady!

A while back we had your first look at maverick French filmmaker Luc Besson's new film, The Lady.  an epic love story about an extraordinary couple who sacrificed their happiness for a higher cause.  Set against the struggle for democracy in Burma, The Lady tells the story of the life of one of its leaders, Aung San Suu Kyi, played by Michelle Yeoh (Memoirs of a Geisha, Tomorrow Never Dies, Crouching Tiger,Hidden Dragon) and the academic and writer Michael Aris, her British husband, played by David Thewlis (Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter series, he also has War Horse and Anonymous due out this year).  Despite distance, long separations, and a dangerously hostile regime, their love endured until the very end. It's a story of devotion and human understanding amid a background of political turmoil which continues today. The Lady  is also the story of the peaceful quest of the woman who is at the core of Burma's democracy movement.

We showed you some great Shepard Fairey posters, a few images and a teaser, but this full theatrical trailer really gives us a good idea of what we can expect. Frankly, I think once again, Meryl Streep will end up being an "also-ran". Michelle Yeoh is going to be a serious Best Actress contender.

The Lady premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and thankfully found  a distributor there. Cohen Media Group picked it up for US distribution and plans to release the film late this year with an Oscar campaign focused on director Besson as well as Yeoh and Thewlis' performances. This feels like the kind of film that's too important to miss.

Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Week 3 Recap 10/3/11

Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Week 3 Recap

We are in Week 3 of Season 13 of Dancing With The Stars and tonight saw a very personal side of our celebrities with this week honoring the most memorable year of their life.

Robert Kardashian and Cheryl Burke Fox Trot – This week being best memories week it’s not surprising Rob’s was of his father, Robert Kardashian Senior. The entire family has such beautiful and wonderful memories of their father so he wanted to do his dad proud by dancing to Frank Sinatra’s ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ and to me he did that. His dancing was flawless, elegant and beautiful. Scores: 8/8/8 = 24/30.

Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani Rumba – I personally was looking forward to this dance because earlier in the week they mentioned they were going to make love on the dance floor. This was especially poignant because they danced to her song 'Hold On'.  I thought their dance was beautiful and Chynna was really very elegant and perfect. Scores:  8/9/9 = 26/30.

Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer Rumba – He performed a song that his father Sonny Bono wrote 'Laugh With Me' so that means a lot to him and this being the best year of his life having never been happier it was the perfect combination. I don't know that this was Chaz's best dance but no matter what he has a very strong fanbase so that will probably keep him in the game. Might I also say that Lacey's dress really showcased her very large hooters. Scores: 6/6/6 = 18/30.

Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas Samba – Kristin's most memorable year was 2005 when she graduated high school and moved to L.A. They danced to Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love' which is the kind of music that is just going to get your body shaking. She did a great job and the judges were very happy with her. Scores: 8/8/8 = 24/30.

Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya Tango – His favorite year was 2003 when Queer Eye For The Straight Guy came out. I LOVE Carson and I sincerely hope he sticks around. I look forward to his performance the most each week and I think he did a fabulous job this week. Scores:  8/7/8 = 23/30.

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff  Rumba – J.R.'s most memorable year was when he was injured. His front tire went over a landmine. Upon seeing the damage done to his face he went through so much in terms of grieving. He was only 19 years old. But thankfully he got through that because J.R. is the most incredible inspiration Dancing With The Stars has ever seen. He's dedicating Tim McGraw's 'If You're Reading This' to all of the men and women that didn't make it home. Oh man get out the tissues. Such a beautiful song for such a beautiful dance. THE most memorable of the night for sure and perhaps of all seasons ever. What a standing ovation they received so moving and touching. Scores: 9/8/9 = 26/30.

Nancy Grace and Tristan McManus  Waltz – Her most memorable year was the year that her twins were born. She's dancing to her favorite song Moon river which is what she walked down the aisle to when she married her husband but it's also the first song she sang to her babies. I like watching Tristan speak to her while they are dancing and he grins this certain grin that makes him look so DAMNED handsome. I hope he comes back next year. Scores: 7/7/7 = 21/30.

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough Rumba – Ricki's most memorable year was 2010. It was the year her house burned to the ground and that made her realize exactly just what mattered in her life. And that caused her to meet her fiance who she says she has never felt such great love by Christian. I think Ricki is such a beautiful woman both inside and out. This is a woman who I hope goes the distance this season. I loved her dance. It even made her fiance tear up he was so touched by it. Scores: 9/9/9 = 27/3

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Cha Cha Cha – Although her team didn't win, Hope's soccer team went to the finals in the World Cup so 2011 is her best year. I loved when she sacked Maks in practice. That was hysterical. She's really afraid to let go but I think she did so most tonight than any other night. She's a bit too self-conscious and she shouldn't be she's absolutely gorgeous. Easy for me to say from my couch, right? Scores: 8/8/8 = 24/30.

David Arquette and Kym Johnson Rumba – David Arquette's most memorable year is this past year. His marriage ended which caused him to escape into alcohol but it also was the catalyst for him to look at himself and be there for his daughter. So in that sense it was his most memorable year. He looked pretty good in those pants and open shirt and it was a great dance. Scores: 8/8/8 = 24/30.

Who was your favorite tonight? Who do you think is going home tomorrow night?

Amanda Knox Is FREE

Amanda Knox Is FREE

Seattle native Amanda Knox has been set free in Perugia, Italy after spending four years in prison for the wrongful murder conviction of Meredith Kercher her roommate back in 2007. She had been sentenced to 26 years in total. An appeals court overturned the decision today of a jury made up of 6 jurors and 2 judges.

Amanda's boyfriend at the time (in 2007) Raffaele Sollecito's, was also charged with Meredith's murder (and given a 25 year sentence) and was set free today.

However Amanda was found guilty of defamation with a sentence that carried 3 years but got credit for time served and is also required to pay all legal costs associated with her defense.

She broke down upon hearing the conviction being overturned and sobbed all the way out of the court room as she was whisked away.

After the verdict was read people outside of the courthouse were booing and chanting shame, shame.

What are your thoughts on her conviction being overturned?
