Friday’s Fabulous Fashionistas Are Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift & More

Friday's Fabulous Fashionistas Are Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift & More

Singer Selena Gomez, 19, and her leading man, Justin Bieber, 17, channel old Hollywood at the 2011 American Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. on November 20.  Selena was the toast of the red carpet looking stunning as ever in a low-cut Giorgio Armani champagne gown with side slit and train.  Silver sandals, shimmering clutch and minimal jewellery completed her look.  Selena kept her make-up simple and wore her hair in romantic waves.  By her side, boyfriend Justin Bieber looked debonair and sophisticated in a black velvet tux and bow tie with hair slicked and parted on the side.  The lovebirds are just head over heels for one another.  In fact, Justin even carried the train of Selena's dress for her, because quite frankly my dear, he does give a damn.

Ask anyone who the golden girl of the 2011 American Music Awards was and one person comes to mind.  Taylor Swift, 21, sparkled in a beautiful strapless gold sequined gown by Reem Acra Spring 2012 Collection with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Jimmy Choo shoes.  Taylor was not only a winner on the red carpet, but also in all three categories in which she was nominated, including the highest accolade of the evening, Artist of the Year.  Taylor accepted the award with such humbleness, and said, "This is one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me."  Ah … it's all good crazy, my dear.  My advice to Taylor:  Keep singing and writing as good as you do Taylor, and things will never go back to being sane (nor would you want them to).  We love you!

After giving an outstanding singing/dance performance at the 2011 American Music Awards that earned her a standing ovation, it was time for Jennifer Lopez to get down to some serious partying at the 2011 AMA Post-Party at Greystone Manor Supperclub  in L.A. on Sunday night.  Looking nothing less than stunning, Jennifer lit up the shindig in this silver sequined mini from the Emilio Pucci Spring 2010 Collection, with silver sequined pumps and clutch and drop gem earrings completing her look.  Just watching her performance at the AMAs left me exhausted! Check it out at YouTube.

Also dazzling in silver is Dita Von Teese when she attended the official launch of My Cointreau Travel Essentials at the Sunset Lounge inside the Mondrian South Beach Hotel in Florida on November 17.  Dita is the muse for My Cointreau Travel Essentials, (right) and you could just imagine the looks on the faces of the hotel guests when she made her entrance at the event sauntering down the hotel lobby's black spiral staircase in this silver Herve L Leroux gown with studded Christian Louboutin pumps, vintage earrings and Cartier ring.  Drinks are on the house!

Picture this:  A pair of sleek black leather pants topped with a simple, elegant silk blouse, and coordinated with a minimal black scarf and killer booties.  And who do you envision?  Model Carolyn Murphy, 38, when she attended the Cinema Society & Dior beauty screening of Young Adult at the Tribeca Grand Screening Room in NYC on November 18.  However, the good news is that you don't have to be a supermodel or attend a movie premiere to get this look (top right).  It's all just an order away at Victoria's Secret.

Cullen vampire hunk, actor Kellan Lutz, 26, arrived in style at the GQ Australia Men of the Year Awards at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia on November 22.  Although not nominated for any awards at the event, Kellan is still a winner when he walked the red carpet in this dashing black suit and tie.  Best known for his role as Emmett Cullen in the hugely successful Twilight series (thank you, Stephenie Meyer), Kellan, who is also a model, did a hot photo shoot for GQ Australia in September and now has a new clothing line in the works.  To see pictures of the shoot head over to Access Hollywood. (Warning: Keep defibrillator close by.)

Saving the best for last!  Holding court at the movie premiere of Nova Zembla at the RAI Theatre in Amsterdam on November 22 was Princess Maxima who attended the event with husband, Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.  The Princess, who could steal any leading lady's thunder, was stunning in a black one-shoulder creation complimented with silver clutch.  However, without a doubt, her most dazzling fashion accessories were the diamond drop earrings, diamond bracelets and diamond brooch.  Maxima proves that you can wear a lot of jewels and still keep it chic.  And I have to say, I absolutely love the placement of the diamond brooch.  It really sets the dress off.

That's a wrap-up for another week and thank you for your viewership.  So what are your picks?  Mine:  Princess Maxima.

A happy belated Thanksgiving for my American readers and friends.  And I hope your Black Friday was a safe and prosperous one.  Until next week, lots of love and have a great weekend!

David Fincher Talks The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo + New Images!

David Fincher Talks The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo + New Images!

We have a few more stills for David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, because Columbia Pictures is trying to tease me to death. I’ve seen the trailer in the theater twice more in the last two days and I want to see this movie! I’ve already given in! They win! I’ll buy a ticket…

Sorry, where was I? Oh yeah…anyway, the stills were part of an interview David Fincher gave to USA Today. Some of the excerpts follow:

On the book: "I read it and thought, 'Holy God, how do you compress this into a movie?' I thought the original did a great job, given its ($15 million) budget. When you have that much, it's going to be limited in terms of the scope." Obviously the budget is much bigger for Fincher’s version.

On casting Rooney Mara: "I wasn't looking for someone who kicks ass. I was looking for someone who could project the kind of mystery of someone who is that damaged."

On casting Daniel Craig: "He reminds me of Brad (Pitt) or Mark Ruffalo. They're the kind of actors who will do eight or nine takes until the muscle memory kicks in. They make themselves totally available." He may remind Fincher of those actors (he’s worked with both- Pitt on Se7en and Ruffalo on Zodiac) but Daniel Craig reminds me of no one else.

On Mara and Craig's chemistry: "You know how you get up in the morning to make your coffee and you'll see your cats, kind of curled and natural? That was them. They were amazing colleagues."  Wow. That’s all.

On setting the film in Sweden: "I think the setting was part of the escape (for American readers). They don't want to see this set in some basement here." Not to mention, since that’s where the book is set, why the hell wouldn’t you put the film there?

On what he considers the story: "It's a thriller. I don't consider it horror; there's no supernatural element. But it is about the loss of control, which I guess can be horrifying."  More! More!

I’m a fan of Fincher’s films which is why I gave this one a shot at winning me over in the first place. Now I’m excited. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo opens in the US and Canada on December 21 and 26th December in the UK

Three New TV Spots for Spielberg’s “Miraculous” War Horse!

Gorgeous New Poster and Images for Spielberg's War Horse!

Dreamworks has released new tv spots for it’s big holiday release, War Horse. Now that Thanksgiving is over, expect things to get serious in terms of movie releases and awards contenders. It’s almost like the playoffs have begun.

The official synopsis: DreamWorks Pictures’ War Horse, director Steven Spielberg’s epic adventure, is a tale of loyalty, hope and tenacity set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War. War Horse begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets–British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter–before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land. The First World War is experienced through the journey of this horse–an odyssey of joy and sorrow, passionate friendship and high adventure. War Horse is one of the great stories of friendship and war– a successful book, it was turned into a hugely successful international theatrical hit that is arriving on Broadway next year. It now comes to screen in an epic adaptation by one of the great directors in film history.

We’ve the extended version of three clips you can find over at Latino Review. They are essentially just remixed versions of the one you can find below.

“Wherever you are, I will find you. And I will bring you home!”  Am I the only one who hears Daniel Day Lewis in The Last of the Mohicans?

War Horse stars Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson, Peter Mullan, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch and David Thewlis.  The film opens Christmas Day, everywhere.

Tim Burton’s B. Boy Gets Parade Debut!

Tim Burton's B. Boy Gets Parade Debut!

Tim Burton got his own balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City yesterday.  Burton, who was at the parade with his children and his ‘baby-mama’ Helena Bonham Carter, unveiled “B. Boy” as part of the event's "Blue Sky Gallery" series, which invites artists to enter their personal concepts for the parade’s famous fleet of flying characters. Other artists who’ve participated include Jeff Koons and Takashi Murakami.

“B. Boy” is 32 feet tall and 19 feet wide. He has a round blue head, a face covered in Burton’s signature surgical stitches and a mouth full of fang-like teeth that are apparent through his red-lipped smile and he wears a red and white striped jumpsuit. His “backstory” is that he was cobbled together from rejects of birthday party balloons left over from children's parties at a hospital. “B. Boy” (short for Balloon Boy) was not allowed to play with other kids so he withdrew to his basement home and into the world of his favorite film, The Red Balloon. He hoped that one day he too would be able to fly above the city and bring joy to one small child.

I think his dream came true yesterday.
