Ho! Ho! Ho! Charming New Images from Arthur Christmas!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Charming New Images from Arthur Christmas!

Aardman Studios’ Arthur Christmas is already playing in the UK and it’s in theaters today here in the US and Canada. I can’t remember the last time I went to see a Christmas movie in the theater, but I’m going to see this one. From everything I’ve seen and heard so far, it’s completely witty and charming. It also boasts some great voices. Arthur Christmas features the vocal talents of James McAvoy as Arthur, Bill Nighy as Grandsanta, Jim Broadbent as Santa (Arthur’s dad), Hugh Laurie, Ashley Jensen, Laura Linney, Imelda Staunton, Robbie Coltrane, Joan Cusack and Eva Longoria (wait…what?)

On Christmas night at the North Pole, Santa's youngest son-Arthur-  looks to use his father's high-tech operation for an urgent mission, delivering one last forgotten present.  And we'll finally get the answer to the age old question "How does Santa deliver all those toys in one night?"

We’ve seen the trailers, now we can enjoy these pics and then go see the movie.

Justin Bieber Talks DNA Tests & Weasels on David Letterman

Justin Bieber Talks DNA Tests & Weasels on David Letterman

Justin Bieber hit New York last night and specifically the David Letterman studio where Dave showed his support for him being accused of fathering a child referring to Mariah Yeater as a 'weasel'. Justin concurred that "I could smell a weasel, too."

Justin confirmed that for the DNA test they swap your mouth and removing your clothes is not necessary! He took the test last Friday in New Jersey and now Mariah's camp is saying that the baby will be offered up for the test. However they are not necessarily satisfied with the conditions of the test because no one from Mariah's team was present despite the facility being highly reputable with conditions in place to ensure no cheating on the test. Based on these text messages, I'd say Justin has nothing to worry about.

One gets the feeling that David really likes Justin.

You Could Bounce a Quarter Off of Jodie Foster in New Clip from Carnage!

UK Trailer and New Poster for Carnage with Kate Winslet!

We have a new clip from Roman Polanski’s Carnage to share.

As soon as we got the first trailers and clips we saw how tightly wound Jodie Foster's character is. I think this clip certainly bears that out. It also bears out my assumptions that John C. Reilly's is a bit sycophantic, Kate Winslet's a tad priggish and Christoph Waltz is the pragmatist.

Carnage is based on the award winning play “God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza and tells the story of two sets of parents who decide to have a cordial meeting after their sons are involved in a schoolyard brawl. Given Foster’s ‘chirpy-ness’ in this snippet, and having seen what’s coming in the trailers, “tightly wound” is an understatement. Her passive aggressive insistence that Winslet and Waltz’s son is to blame is obvious. What will be interesting to find out is whether or not this clip comes close to the beginning when the two couples are still being civil or toward the end when they’re called some sort of truce and are just exhausted. I’m judging from the state of Winslet’s hair that it’s the former.

Carnage opens in the US and Canada on December 16 and 3rd February in the UK.

Stills and an Exciting New TV Spot for The Darkest Hour!

Stills and an Exciting New TV Spot for The Darkest Hour!

Well, a happy little Christmas film, this is certainly not! The Darkest Hour, which until a couple of days ago, we hadn’t heard a peep about in months, but is now getting the big push, looks all kinds of crazy cool and may just be the perfect antidote to all of that family togetherness, Who-Pudding and rare Who-Roast Beast on Christmas Day.

Take a look at this new TV spot. It takes the trailer we showed you the other day and condenses it and yet with the dialogue added, it enhances it as well

It was July when we started talking about The Darkest Hour. It was one of the cool little tidbits to come out of Comic Con and I’m glad we’re finally going to be able to see it.  Filmed on location in Russia, the production actually had to be suspended for three weeks due to the heavy smoke from the wild fires surrounding Moscow in August 2010.

Synopsis: The Darkest Hour follows five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack.   The 3D action-thriller highlights the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effects from the minds of visionary filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov (WantedNight Watch) and director Chris Gorak.

I’m tired of aliens terrorizing only New York or LA. What about the rest of the world? Why would aliens be as ethnocentric or xenophobic as Earthlings? Then again…

Enjoy the pics!

EVERYONE WANTS to GET INTO DANIEL CRAIGs JEANS

EVERYONE WANTS to GET INTO DANIEL CRAIGs JEANS

There is a new line of clothing inspired by Rooney Mara’s Lisabeth Salander coming to your local H & M. It’s full of dark (read: black), punk-ish separates like hoodies and motorcycle boots, shredded t-shirts, tight leather jackets and even tighter jeans. They hit the stores in the US on December 14, a week before the movie.

Additionally, costume designer for David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Trish Summerville,  told the Hollywood Reporter’s Fash Track that she wants to do a menswear line based on Daniel Craig’s Mikael Blomqvist. "His clothing was as fun to do as Rooney's. His character was really great to dress. I love the layering of the wrinkled shirt, vest and cardigan. He has a chic but natural look, a casual elegance. i hope I get to do something with a menswear line because I really enjoyed dressing Daniel."  I do believe that’s something I would also enjoy.

Summerville added insult to injury by saying, "I gave him a couple of pair of Scotch and Soda {jeans} because they fit him so well," Summerville said. "They looked like they were made for him. Everyone on the set — girls and guys — would ask him who made his jeans." Oh. My. Sweet. Hell.

*fans self* That’s Craig as Mikael Blomqvist in said jeans in the pic at the top of the post. Oh, and we have a new poster for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as well as that cover of Entertainment Weekly that doesn’t exactly go with the tone of the movie but I don’t care. It’s another picture of Daniel Craig…and his jeans. Happy Tuesday.

The Avengers Assembled! New Character Posters and Banners!

The Avengers Assembled! New Character Posters and Banners!

Avengers assemble! And apparently they have! The cast of Joss Whedon's The Avengers may be the best ever put together for a comic book movie and they’ve all been given their own character posters and then those were combined into cool looking banners.

I swear this movie is just bursting at the seams with testosterone filled goodness and they’re all just teasing me.  Chris Hemsworth as Thor with his hair rippling in the breeze, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Chris Evans as Captain America and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, all looking at the camera and giving it the sexy ‘Victoria’s Secret, over-the-shoulder (well, Evans is peeking out from behind his arm) come hither stare’. Jeremy Renner who plays Hawkeye and Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man looking at nothing and exuding macho, Mark Ruffalo who plays The Hulk (in Bruce Banner mode), he’s touching those glasses so we remember that smarts is sexy, right before he rips them off and goes all Hulk-like, Oh and then there’s Scarlet Johannson as The Black Widow in her skintight black leathers and big guns. I’m sure there’s someone out there stoked about that.

I’m still unclear on just what this movie’s about, other than “The S.H.I.E.L.D. agency brings together a team of superhumans to help save the Earth from annihilation by extraterrestrial invaders.” Oookay… Oh well, just keep giving us pretty pictures to look at and we’ll stay interested.

The Avengers is set for release on May 4, 2012 virtually everywhere.
