Kristen Stewart is GORGEOUS at Breaking Dawn London Premiere

Kristen Stewart is GORGEOUS at Breaking Dawn London Premiere

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are on the red carpet at the London premiere of Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 where I have to say this is the most gorgeous I think I've seen Kristen ever looking. That black, sequined gown is magnificent on her! Normally she is wearing something on the short side but she totally brought out the glam for this premiere. I wonder if it being in Robert Pattinson's birth country (England) had anything to do with it?

Is it me or do Kristen and Robert look so in love in these pictures? And Twihards, it's just two more sleeps until Breaking Dawn hits theatres in North America!

Check back and refresh this post as we'll be adding more photos as they come up.

New Poster for Shame with Michael Fassbender Hints at the Hurt

New Poster for Shame with Michael Fassbender Hints at the Hurt

The new poster for Steve McQueen’s Shame is the best one yet. It shows us Michael Fassbender as Brandon certainly, but it also shows us Carey Mulligan’s Sissy. Just from the use of color and the positioning of the actors’ heads, we can begin to understand the tone of the film and their relationship.  They  are brother and sister, but they live their lives hiding from each other (and everyone else). Despite whatever else you’ve heard, Shame is not about sex, it’s about pain.

I hope you’re not tired of me talking about this film. Since it’s officially rated NC-17, the promotion will primarily be limited to the internet. I’m doing my part.

Last year, Harvey Weinstein was so incensed that Blue Valentine earned a NC-17 that he personally petitioned the Motion Pictures Assn. of America in the hopes they’d change their minds. His fear supposedly was that an NC-17 would harm the film's commercial prospects.  In my estimation the rating as well as Harvey’s “fight” served the film, a small little art house number that probably would have slid under the radar of most people anyway, despite its A-list cast (Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams) and good reviews.

Steve McQueen says he’s not worried about the rating affecting Shame’s potential at the box office. In fact, his star (Fassbender) believes, it may help boost ticket sales.

"I think it can be an alright thing. It can stimulate curiosity for sure," the actor told the LA Times on the red carpet at the AFI Fest premiere of the film in Hollywood on November 9. He added, "I think it's unusual that a lot of violent films seem to pass through the system easily enough. But whenever you sort of try to question or deal with sex, it becomes something that's dirty or not to be watched — so I find that to be confusing." He has a point.

Enjoy the poster and some pics of Fassy at a photocall in San Francisco this past weekend. We’ll talk again I’m sure.

Jonah Hill is the Worst Babysitter in the World! *NSFW*

Jonah Hill is the Worst Babysitter in the World! *NSFW*

There’s a 2nd red-band trailer out for David Gordon Green’s The Sitter with Jonah Hill. From what I’ve seen so far, this plays like an over-the-top-raunchy version of that 80’s classic, Adventures in Babysitting (did the word “shart” even exist when Elizabeth Shue wa s in charge?), which as we all know, is just what the world needed.

Officially the synopsis is: A comedy about a college student on suspension who is coaxed into babysitting the kids next door, though he is fully unprepared for the wild night ahead of him.

There’s also an interactive “The Sitter Game” over at IGN if you’re interested.

Sam Rockwell, Max Records, Ari Graynor , D. W.Moffat, Jessica Hecht and JB Smoove co-star. The Sitter opens December 9 in the US & Canada but not until 22 June in the UK.  (I think that’s plenty of warning. You will owe us for taking this bullet.)

Hugh Jackman is Full of Butter-y Goodness

Hugh Jackman is Full of Butter-y Goodness

To be honest, these new images from Jim Field Smith's (She's Out of My League) latest, titled simply, Butter, aren’t all about Hugh Jackman but, I figured you could use a little Hugh to get your Hump Day started.

The first time I heard that someone had made a movie about a butter carving competition, I have to say I was skeptical. Since then I've heard nothing but good things, even if it wasn’t the phenomenon that Harvey Weinstein was hoping for.  It stars Jennifer Garner as over-achieving type A Laurie Pickler in a comedy set in the Midwest U.S., where an adopted girl (Yara Shahidi) discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman (Garner) in their town's annual contest.

The Weinstein Company launched a viral site where you can also view the clip below as part of a "campaign ad" for Laurie Pickler for Governor. Her slogan: "For the Little People", and  includes buttons for Laurie's Facebook and Twitter pages. Inspired marketing I must say, even if the hoped for comparisons to Michelle Bachman and or Sarah Palin are now moot.

Also starring Hugh Jackman, Ty Burrell, Olivia Wilde, Kristen Schaal, Ashley Greene, Alicia Silverstone, Rob Corddry, Phyllis Smith and Pruitt Taylor Vince,  Butter will be released March 16, 2012.

New TV Spot for The Descendants with George Clooney

New Clip from The Descendants!

There’s a new sixty second tv blip for Alexander Payne’s The Descendants with George Clooney. When you put the contents of the spot together with the trailers we’ve already seen, you get a pretty clear picture of what Clooney’s character is up against and how he ends up bonding with his rebellious teenage daughter.  Clooney plays Matt King, an indifferent husband and father who has to reconnect with his two daughters after his wife suffers a tragic accident. At the same time he has to decide whether or not to sell his family's land that had been handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.

I reiterate, if The Descendants is as good as it's purported to be, a mixture of humor and pathos that is the director's stock in trade then I'm calling it right now, it will be down to the wire between this and The Artist come Sunday February 26.

Granted, I'm making this bold assertion on the basis of a couple of trailers and a handful of clips from both movies. I have yet to see the full length version of either one. (Ironically, I had a pass for a screening of each of them last night. I had to choose and then ending up missing them both. KICKING MYSELF!) There are, however, a lot of people who have seen both films, since they've both been traveling the festival circuit for the past few months.  I'm a fan of Payne's films (ElectionAbout SchmidtSideways) plus who doesn't love George Clooney? The Descendants opens this Friday November 18 in the US (although not until 27 January in the UK). Guess I’ll have to BUY a ticket.
