Gwen Stefani's Target line for children 'Harajuku Mini' had its official launch yesterday much to the delight of Hollywood moms who caught the first glimpse of the mogul's collection for kids. Brooke Burke, Ali Larter, Maya Rudolph, Selma Blair and others attended the launch party held at the Jim Henson studio in Los Angeles.

The very affordable collection hits Target stores tomorrow and Gwen is just as thrilled as you are:

'I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the super-cute and playful kids' clothing you find in Japan,' 'The whole idea is about being creative, expressing your own individuality and having fun getting dressed.'

'Target has given me the creative freedom to design kid’s clothing that is different than most anything you usually see out there with great quality, attention to detail and most of all, available at amazing prices,' she said.

If this line is anything like her L.A.M.B. line, which was launched in 2004, Target and Gwen will have a very long and prosperous relationship.

Like an official with a starter’s pistol, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences kicked off the awards season in earnest last night by holding the Academy’s 3^rd Annual Governor’s Award Dinner in the Grand Ballroom at the Hollywood & Highland Center.  Admittedly it's a rather slow start as the event is generally for *ahem* "old school" Hollywood and those hoping to make an impression with Oscar voters. Potential nominees Glenn Close, Woody Harrelson, Gary Oldman, Tilda Swinton, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer were all there. Academy President Tom Sherak took the podium in a Darth Vader costume (in tribute to Jones) and opened with “How was your week?” 

And the first Oscar goes to…James Earl Jones.

Jones received an honorary Oscar from Sir Ben Kingsley for his long career in film. He accepted his Oscar via satellite because he’s in London starring in “Driving Miss Daisy” opposite Vanessa Redgrave at London’s Wyndham Theatre. Sir Ben Kingsley presented him the award for which Jones said he was “deeply honored” and “mighty grateful”.

In LA Oprah Winfrey and famed makeup man Dick Smith were given awards at the dinner; Smith for his long career spanning sixty five films including Little Big Man, The Godfather & The Godfather II, The Exorcist and Amadeus. Oprah was given the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. (Despite the fact that she earned three standing 'O's to close the night, I'm pretty sure she'll still make a speech during February's three plus hour long telecast). Apparently there were a lot of heartfelt speeches for all of the recipients, attendees calling this year's gala the most emotional yet.

Part two of the event will be held tonight in London as Meryl Streep, Ralph Fiennes and James Earl Jones are scheduled to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tribute to Jones’ costar Vanessa Redgrave’s 50-year career. (I hope they don’t think this is in place of giving her a nomination for Fiennes’ Coriolanus! She’s been nominated six times, but has only won once: Best Supporting Actress for Julia in 1978)

It’s time for your daily does of Muppets! Last night at LA’s El Capitan Theatre, The Muppets had it’s gala ‘green’ carpet premiere. A lot of the cast was there, including Amy Adams and writer/producer/star Jason Segel, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Neil Patrick Harris, Mickey Rooney, Kristin Schaal and Rico Rodgriguez, but as you can imagine, the night belonged to Her Porcine Majesty, Miss Piggy. La Porkette arrived in the back of a chauffer driven silver Mercedes amid a flurry of paparazzi flashbulbs and then off course the crowd went bananas when they spotted Kermit. New Muppet, Walter, who plays Jason Segel’s character Gary’s half brother, looked dashing in his new powder blue suit. Fozzie Bear and Rowlf looked like they’d had a bath for the occasion and even Animal was on his best behavior.

There were some humans who got a bit of attention, like Jennifer Morrison and Sir Anthony Hopkins. Some were just looking for it, like Lisa Rinna and Nancy Grace. (Am even I supposed to know who Bella Thorne is?)  Anyway, enjoy the pics! The Muppets opens November 23!

We have both the UK and the US versions of the one sheet for the fourth film in the Underworld series, Underworld Awakening. This one once again stars Kate Beckinsale (after she took the third one off. That one was more of an origins story starring Rhona Mitra). Directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein, Mr. Beckinsale, I mean Len Wiseman, who directed Underworld and Underworld Evolution, returns as a producer.

The story: When human forces discover the existence of the Vampire and Lycan clans, a war to eradicate both species commences. The vampire warrioress Selene (Beckinsale) leads the battle against humankind.

You have to give it to Kate, she can wear the hell out of that leather catsuit. In 3D no less. While Underworld Awakening will have Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, Theo James, India Eisley and Charles Dance, it will not have Michael Sheen. There’s a rumor that Selene’s Lycan lover Michael, played by Scott Speedman, may show up.  Underworld Awakening opens January 20 in both the US and the UK.

Aardman Studios, from whom we also got the enormously entertaining Wallace & Grommit and Chicken Run, brings us a new movie destined to become a holiday classic, Arthur Christmas. The story revolves around a young man called Arthur (voiced by James McAvoy), who happens to be Santa’s son and follows his quest to deliver one last Christmas present for a forgotten child on Christmas Eve. Those who've already seen it claim that both children and adults will be completely charmed. After watching the five new clips, I believe that.

Official synopsis: An Aardman production for Sony Pictures Animation, at last reveals the incredible, never-before seen answer to every child’s question: ‘So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?’ The answer: Santa’s exhilarating, ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole. But at the heart of the film is a story with the ingredients of a Christmas classic – a family in a state of comic dysfunction and an unlikely hero, Arthur, with an urgent mission that must be completed before Christmas morning dawns.

Watch the five clips. They’re full of Christmas magic as well as an army of ninja elves.(Check the pierced eyebrow on the one in the poster below.)  If you aren’t grinning from ear to ear by the end of this, your heart is probably three sizes too small, Grinch.

Real Housewives of Atlanta's Kim Zolciak got married yesterday (11/11/11) to NFL boyfriend Kroy Biermann and while I wish them all the happiness in the world, I'm sorry but her dress is FUGLY. And it's expensive; to the tune of $58,000! Say WHAT? Fugly can be accomplished or a lot less money.

The fabric thrown around the middle looks like a very bad afterthought. The dress probably would have been just fine without it. The Baracci dress weighs 32 pounds and is covered in: Swarovski crystals, pearls, beads and embroidered lace, while the fabric was 100 percent Duchess Satin. The dress is a second-hand gown that Kim purchased from PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com.
