Christopher Meloni no longer graces Law & Order SVU but he's still lighting up New York. He was on hand to light up the Empire State Building in honor of the Only Make Believe Organization. Only Make Believe is a non profit dedicated to creating and performing interactive theatre for children in hospitals and care facilities. Their belief is that freeing a child's imagination helps in the healing process. What a great organization.

In addition to taking part in this worthwhile event, Christopher Meloni is also in the middle of shooting Man of Steel in which he plays Colonel Hardy.  Lots of patience is going to be needed to see this hottie in that movie because it doesn't have a release date until 2013. The Superman/Clark Kent lead for this film is none other than Henry Cavill, who if you have been reading this blog for any length of time know who this hot piece of man is.

Wow. These people at Madame Tussaud’s are getting scary good at this! If I were a casual observer and didn’t know that I was looking at a wax figure of Kate Winslet’s famous figure, I wouldn’t even guess.

The statue was unveiled today, November 9, in London and I have to say that’s probably one of the best I’ve ever seen. And look at the background…it looks as if the real Dames Helen Mirren and Judi Dench are in the room with her.  Incredible.  I love the dress they chose for Kate’s look, too. That red Elie Saab (a favorite designer of hers) from the 2011 Emmys is a definite winner. Frankly, I’m surprised it took the people at Madame Tussaud’s this long to get around to Kate. You’d think they’d have “Jack and Rose” from Titanic in there somewhere (you know the pose I’m thinking of…”I’m flying!”)

Liz Edwards, PR Manager for the museum told Reuters, “Kate Winslet has been one of the most requested figures here at Madame Tussauds London. We actually asked our guests who they would like to see in a poll and she actually came top of a list in the poll so that's why she's here today."

Mr. Practical Joker George Clooney hits the cover of the December Rolling Stone magazine where he talks losing his virginity, orgasms, Stacy Keibler and admits he is a lover of all things fart-related He has whoopee cushions and the mere mention of the word has him giggling:

"Even the idea of a fart makes me laugh. Saying the word 'fart' makes me laugh," he admits. "I have iFart on my phone. I have remote whoopee cushions. Farts. To me, there's nothing funnier."

Even though he is always super reticent about his ladies, he doesn't mind that Stacy Keibler tweets up a storm about their whereabouts:

"She can do whatever she wants," Clooney tells the mag of Keibler's tweets. "I rarely tell anybody what they should be doing with their life."

He always loves the word Johnson (I am with him on that one):

"Johnson" always makes him laugh. "Always. 'He showed her his Johnson and she left.' You can actually say that in mixed company or on late-night TV."

On losing his virginity (and orgasms):

"young, very young, too young"), he had his first orgasm when he was much younger. "I believe it was while climbing a rope when I was six or seven years old," he says. "I mean, nothing came out, but all the other elements were there. I remember getting to the top of the rope, hanging off the rope, and going, "Oh, my God, this feels great!"

Poor Marky Mark. Just when he thinks he’s out, they pull him back in a la Michael Corleone in Godfather 3.  Contraband is another one of those tales wherein a family man, this time it’s Wahlberg, who gets sucked back into 'the life' thanks to his ne'er do well brother. Last week we showed you the new poster for Contraband that showcased a bit more of the cast and (unfortunately) less of Mark Wahlberg’s torso. We've shown you the US trailer, which kicked all kinds of ass and now we have the UK version and of course, it goes even further. Thank God for the internet so that we always know what we’re missing!

The synopsis: A security guard with financial troubles considers a return to his smuggling ways when an associate offers a potentially lucrative opportunity. 

We know that's not even half the story though. Kate Beckinsale plays Wahlberg’s devoted wife and it appears Kate and the kids are in all sorts of danger.

Contraband is a remake of an Icelandic film called Reykjavik-Rotterdam. The cast of this one  includes the excellent Giovanni Ribisi, the equally excellent Ben Foster and David O'Hara, J. K. Simmons, Lukas Haas, Caleb Landry Jones, Diego Luna and Marky Mark's older brother, Robert Walhberg. Contraband opens January 13 in the US and 16 March in the UK.

This is kind of all the way creepy. The bed that Michael Jackson died in is going up for auction. The bed and other items will be up for auction at Julien's Auctions on December 17.

Another item up for auction is a mirror from the room that everybody was forbidden from entering and has an inscription (done by the King of Pop himself) that reads: TRAIN, perfection, March April. FULL OUT May."

While I don't know what the answer is for what to do with the bed that Michael Jackson died in, it seems a bit creepy that it will be auctioned off. But not so creepy that it will not get any bidders. I just wonder how much it would go for.

Duran Duran still rocks. Call me crazy but I love ‘em. Always have, always will. (I even have a couple of songs from their latest album on my iPod. “Leave a Light On” reminds me of “Save A Prayer”.)  I may be “dating” myself badly here, but I remember the advent of MTV. When the vid for “Rio” was first released, it was a huge deal and it was in very heavy rotation for a very long time. Those gorgeous guys were tailor made for music videos.  Their popularity was based so heavily on their image at the time, that naysayers theorized the band would dry up when their looks did. Well one, their looks never did and two, the band has outlasted the music video.

For their latest single, “Girl Panic”, they’ve gone old school and back to their roots. There was a time when all a band had to do was fill three minutes of film with models and they had a hit. In fact this band’s first video was for a song called “Girls on Film”. (There was even a version that was too hot for MTV.) The most famous pairing of models and music was probably George Michael’s “Freedom ’90”.  With “Girl Panic”, Duran Duran has taken “Girls on Film”, “Freedom ’90” and mashed them with Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love” and come up with a totally cool, highly stylized hybrid of a long-form vid.

Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Helen Christensen (all three of whom are in their 40’s and look AAH-MAY-ZING!) along with Eva Herzigova all appear as the members of Duran Duran: John Taylor, Simon LeBon, Roger Taylor and Nick Rhodes respectively. (The actual members appear in supporting roles). An unnamed model represents the rotation of replacements for guitarist Andy Taylor who has left the band. You have to watch this. “No models were harmed in this production.”
